Trying a new finishing method, anyone else used Solarez UV-Cure resin before?
Tried some stain on an Ash scrap and liked it so I stained the back and sides to match

That's a rich blue. I like it a lot. Can't wait to see it completed.

Yeah, some of those necks are quite a value. I have two with the side adjust. Set them up the first time and that's it. One I've had for two years and it's never needed to be re-adjusted. The other one is just installed. Congrats. Looking forward to seeing your build.

Thanks! It was in the Screaming Deals section. I'm looking for a body now and trying to figure out the pickups.

First project ever attempted and being honest it was put together by a pro and body finished by someone with the gear and know how. My son purchased all the parts and made some good choices,

Picked up a beat-up body from GuitarFetish's Factory Clearance, and this is what it looked like when I got it:

Did some sanding and I'm thinking of changing my tune somewhat for finishing. I was going to just paint it, but it has such a nice binding that I hate to bury it under paint. The grain is nothing fancy, so it's still getting paint, but now I'm thinking solid black on the back & sides, clear only on the binding, and some kind of a dark/navy blue rubbed into what grain is there on the front. You'll see the texture of the grain but not the color variation. Then clear with gold and/or silver metallic flakes over the whole thing for some sparkle and depth. Any thoughts? Seems to me that the worst part will be keeping the binding clean!

Also, any idea what shape this is? To me it's kinda PRS-ish, but not quite!

That's an impressive clean-up you did. What in the world did the factory do to it to make it so rough? Cool body, there.

It looks like raw timber that has been sitting.

I think that's pretty much exactly what happened to it. They're saying that they bought a closed factory/warehouse full of bodies and necks. It was VERY dusty and had some light scarring from being in contact with other pieces of wood.

**** me! That must represent years of practice.

How much would just a inlay on a blank fretboard cost me?
