Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Its going to be hard to fit a neck pickup with that thing blocking the hole but other than that i really like it :). All your stuff is pure :headbang::headbang: And very inspirational.

Thanks....still have to cut that chunk of the neck off before I glue it in, but hopefully should have it glued in this weekend..

The '60 MM came in a week ago, but parts took a bit longer. As advertised, late'50s/early '60s neck profile. It's for sure smaller than my R8, but significantly bigger than my other guitars.

I went ahead and cleaned/oiled the board. Installed the bridge posts. Wired up the harness using mojotone pots/caps. The Tonepro Kluson Deluxe tuners fit the headstock like a glove. Installed the retrospec studs/mojoaxe compensated bridge. Strung up with Dunlop Rev 10s. Jesus. I love how these MMs just ring.

The guitar is half way from being done though. The 59/Custom is a temp pickup. Need to figure that out. It needs a new pickguard since the original was mangled. As it is, the 59/custom isn't fully mounted at the moment.

The '62 melody maker finally came out of the booth. The neck on this one is waayy smaller. Funny what a difference two years makes. I like the fretboard figure on this one more. The TV White finish is more off white or vintage white in person. Tuned to C standard. Super light. Big fan of these early MMs.

Well that's just flipping cool!!!

I don't normally like pointy guitars & I never much cared for those Iceman style bodies but a Iceman style offset Tele is something I could get behind....

Way to think outside of the box!!!

Honduras Mahogany X-style with 6 piece Wenge neck in the works, "I really should finish some of the others I started before I make more" - yes dear :)

I’m starting a build over the holidays, picked up the final required items (and hopefully will find my soldering gun tomorrow).

It’s a kit so much of the ‘hard’ work is done but being this my first build I didn’t want to take on too much.

I went with a LP model and got a spalted flamed maple veneer version as I thought it looked really nice. The plan being to finish with a basic oil-based stain and tru-oil.

Wish me luck!

The Fireman Tele is going through some revisions. I was hoping the rosewood/ebony neck would fit with the swamp ash, but I liked it better with white pine. The top end was sweeter, it had a bit more mids, and more warmth. Surprisingly, the white pine was arguably more light and resonant too. Think I prefer white pine over ash haha.

Anyhow, this swamp ash body should fit well with a quarter sawn maple neck. I changed the gold coil (foil) pickup for a sentient and kept the broadcaster type pickup in the bridge. Electronics will switch from 300k CTS pots/.033uf PIO to Bourns 550k pots/.022uf Mojotone Vitamin T PIO. Will be adding a resistor so the bridge sees ~300k on both pots. Neck will be ordered in Jan. or so.

I love the grain in it, fordmugg. Are you going to use a filler or leave it like that?

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Neck and body arrived! Neck fits body quite nicely...encouragingly so. Although I’m a little torn because I like the battle scarred finish on the body as it is.

Kramer “1984” Maple Neck w/5150 Striped Headstock/“EVH” Tuners/Nut/Retainer, Vintage 1984 Kramer Pacer Imperial Body w/Kramer “Made In USA” Neck Plate, Seymour Duncan SH-2N ’59/SWD Custom Shop MJ ’78 Trembucker, Floyd Rose Original

Please tell me that you will be removing the horridly ugly paint from the headstock.

Bodies and necks are back from the painters so time to reassemble them
