Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Cool stuff, lots of Iceman love I see :)

I have parts rolling in to restore/customize a '79 Iceman IC-50 that is in severe need of TLC. Got a great neck and most of the original parts less pickups which is fine because I want to do something different with it.

Think I am going to go Ayrton on it and make it a triplebucker ala the IC-210, filling in the rest of the holes before a refin. Only indecision is a buddy of mine that wants me to just restore it to stock for him. Fun either way. Pics shortly

Note: the TechWreck is not building this; her sweetie is, who is not feeling particularly social at this point. And no, he is not a figment of my imagination.

Well, that was really dumb. That's not the top, he's telling me NOW. Talk about a learning curve. Your welcome for the laugh, GUYS.

Crap. It's not the top. NOW he tells me. I thought it was, coz it's prettier. I give up. You're welcome.

Seriously what are you on about? You didn't post a picture of any guitar top, bottom, left or flipping right.

Did you buy an air guitar?

Re: Who's working on a build right now? Let's see your stuff!

Well the body made it in today. I cleaned it up a bit and fixed a small crack between the neck and neck pickup pocket. I am waiting on an original bridge and tuners and I need to get some bridge posts for it. It's a bit rough/heavy relic but it's solid. 3-piece body which appears to be ash or more likely sen, it doesn't appear to be mahogany. The body and neck are from June of '79.

I am going to throw it together and see how it plays and sounds with some 59's in it before I do any mods to it. While I have it apart I am hoping to get a good template for the body in case I want to make one in the future

I totally dig that there have been a lot of iceman builds coming up lately.

This thing is a total Rock N Roll warrior! I compounded the hell out of it with Meguir's Scratch X2.0 and buffed it out with some Turtle Wax Pure Carnauba. It shined up really nice and still has all the wear and patina, funky but chic!!!

I plugged in at rehearsal and my whole band went "whoa! wtf!?!" it smokes

The '59 in the bridge is perfect for it, putting together an A8 '59 for the neck, right now it is a just a parts box Epi neck pup. Making a control cavity cover from some used up KISS Alive vinyl with the old Casablanca logo. I can't believe how well this went together, it plays and sounds fantastic! I used 500k CTS pots, an old .022 Yamoto cap, Switchcraft jack and a box switch because that is all I could get to fit right. The reflector knobs give it a little pop, I really like the way they look. Found a bridge in the UK, tuning pegs in Hong Kong(!) and Planet Waves strap pins at GC ;). The Iceman truss rod cover is on its way from Repro Parts.

That's the work of ibanez. The pots came wired to the eq board. Are you saying you're better than ibanez?

It's also a mini pot not a full sized it came from the rg550xh.

A little black permanent marker or nail polish (harder to get right) and it'll look clean from several steps away
