Why are there no guitars with just bridge pick ups?

zero element

So? I mainly use the neck pick up and right now one of my guitar's only has 1 volume and a bridge pick up. I was thinking of throwing a pick up in the nick and calling it good without replacing the bridge pick up. Would there be anything wrong with that beside the fact it might look a little goofy?

Not at all. And there are TONS of guitars with just bridge pickups. Including the first mass-produced solid-body electric: Fender Esquire.

Wait sorry, flip everything I said. I don't see many guitars with just neck pick ups. and could I just have a guitar with only a neck pick up?

Re: Why are there no guitars with just bridge pick ups?

Loads of jazz archtop with floating pickups have it in neck position.

Fender Musicmaster.

though I don't see why you wouldn't just add a bridge pickup.

Removing pickups confuses me. Even if you "never" use the bridge, you might on another amp, or eventually, or something.

+1 to what dangles said....it's not like you are never going to have the use for the extra pickup.

Re: Why are there no guitars with just bridge pick ups?

Not to mention all the sweet no-neck pickup guitars out there.

It might be interesting to throw together a Tele, with just a neck humbucker some time.

It'd probably need to be a bright PU. Or maybe use a treble bleed cap to brighten the sound as you roll off the volume. Might be a fun Jazz Tele to stick together.

jazz tele....there's an oxymoron. haha, j/k. it's possible....you just don't hear about it very often.

Re: Why are there no guitars with just bridge pick ups?

I want a Musicmaster, as well as a Duo-Sonic and a Mustang. That way I have the three brothers (or sisters, w/e).

Oh, Ill most likely throw a pick up in the bridge, its just the one in there now doesn't work worth a. I'm 17 so I'm on some what of a budget, and I just want to put a bridge in so I can use it at the time being.

wow that last musicmaster is beautiful

My buddy has an older Ibanez Pat Methany sig. model with only a neck bucker.

Nope, no bridge bucker at all.

This is me back in the day playing it,

There are some guitars with just bridge pickups. Where have you been?

Jazz Tele just doesn't seem right doesn't it? Scotty Anderson uses a somewhat modded Tele (aren't they all?) and plays mostly Jazz

He sounds almost like he's playing a full hollow Jazz guitar. I'm kind of curious about what he has in his Tele. Doesn't really sound like he's using the bridge pickup.

Pete

Edit: This prototype hollow Tele built by Rice Custom Guitars kind of slipped my mind:

I don't have the skills to build something like that.

I don't wanna sound like a jerk or anything, but what's the point of seeking out a guitar that only has a neck pickup, and then putting a bridge pickup in it? There are millions of guitars readily-available with both...
