Re: Why are Valveking 100s so dang cheap? Something really wrong with em I'm not seei
I played alongside a Valveking player for years, sounded great and could get pretty close to my 5150 sound. Neither of us are using our Peavey amps live anymore but when we did the sound was so close between the two at live/venue volumes that you could not really tell them apart. So personally I never understand a dislike of the Valveking, very affordable and more versatile than a 5150, while being capable of very similar tones.
I personally think the 5150 is one of the finest sounding high gain/metal amps money can buy, and the massively popular 6505 (more popular than the 5150 ever was) would point to that being on merit, and not because of some relation to EVH that ended nearly a decade ago. With that said It wasn't everything that I wanted and I now play a Cornford Hellcat.
Ooh, nice, sane ppl in the thread. With constructive info. Thx.
Btw, perhaps I should clarify: it's not so much my dislike for the 5150/6505 sound specifically, but its comparative lack of versatility when you're trying to get a DIFFERENT tone out of it (which I personally failed to achieve when I tried), that spoils that particular amp for me... if the 5150 was a channel, with 2 distinct others with a variety of possibilities (like the big Marshall TSL heads), maybe I'd actually even like it for certain things.
Perhaps to steer somewhat back to the topic:
So did you/will you buy the Valveking 100 or not?
Not yet, but I'm getting rather more confident that I want one.
Waiting on some cash owed to me, or until I flip another guitar. Or, better yet, until someone on CL has one that I could trade something I don't need for.... cuz, sure, VK 100's are cheap, but trading away something that's just gathering dust and wasting garage space for it instead of digging into my wallet for a couple c-notes would be even better value.
I can't get past the irony of having a username that means "goodbye", which I'm sure we all wish he would just say and be done with it.
АДю.
It's my initials, actually. Well, 3 letters thereof and coincidentally my signature (in another language/alphabet).
In any case, how the hell does my login relate to the topic at hand, or any other for that matter? It's not like I'm calling myself BlondePuffyTitMonster or FatCock335 or anything else that'd offend anyone...
Btw, any one of the haters care to explain what exactly FASCINATES you lot so much about my person? I certainly don't remember YOUR threads, your comments, or psychoanalyze YOUR usernames, and could care less... You bunch, on the other hand, are like those people in checkstand aisles that stare at the latest tabloid with that babyface whats-is-name (rhymes with beaver) or those Armenian sisters, and discusses the 10 billion things they can't stand about em. Now, I don't like em either, but I don't know the first thing about em, not even how they got in those tabloids and what they're famous for. Cause I don't care....
sincere bit of folk wisdom: dislike someone? good for you. now try to stop obsessing about every little detail about em, and just, y'know, try AVOIDING them, maybe? like pissing off from their threads, if, according to you, those threads annoy you? yeah?
