Why do I see so many Uberschalls for sale?

I just get surprised that among Boutique amps, this is probably the high gain, and high priced amp I see for sale the most on EBAY and in LA.

Is there a reason for it?

I tried one once and rather liked it. If I were to play producer, I think I would invite it in the studio faster than many amps such as the Dual Rec or 5150. I have only tried one once.

On the other hand, the sound samples I have heard online do not always lead me to believe it can replace the Dual Rec or 5150 in a studio setting, so I may be wrong.

Are you shopping again? Did you not just get your MArshall tuned up? Aw go on and get a Bogner you know you want to!!

lol!

there are only 2 of these amps on ebay right now

if you want the wall of spears tone, that is what they are known for as they do it well...then get one

For a BOUTIQUE amp - I see 'em on EBAY, Craig's, Recycler - at least 2-5 a month. Whereas I rarely see Shiva's (EL34) and Ecstasy at all.

I am tempted by the Uberschall bc a friend says they clean up better than you expect. Otherwise, the Ecstasy has been on my radar for a while now, I just can't justify the price.

For the time being, the Shiva has served me very well.

The Uberschall has crazy gain if that's what you want. I've heard people dial in a pretty killer clean tone as well, but from what I've gathered from other Bogner users, the EL-34 Shiva w/ reverb clean is still the benchmark. A lot of metal/hard rock/punk/emo guys love 'em.

I'm sold on Bogner, but I recommend you really try them all to get a feel for the pros and cons of each Olin. :) The Shiva delivers exactly what I was looking for, wouldn't trade it for any other model, but I don't need the amount of gain or saturation that the XTC or Uberschall offer.

lol this WAS NOT about trying Bogners or shopping

I was just wondering why these are for sale. I was hoping that it's NOT like the Mesa Stiletto where people just started selling them used left and right.

I think why you see a lot of boutique stuff for sale is that it's hyped up to be something it isn't and buyers expect a product that for whatever reason, doesn't meet their demands. Some folks might say it's the best high gain amplifier out there. Some say it's Diezel, or Engl, or Hughes & Kettner, or Elmwood, or....

No amp can be everything to everyone. People buy amps blindly and find out that they aren't what they wanted. Bogners have a signature voicing to them that some folks really like and others hate. They're overall darker and more compressed sounding than most amps which turns off some folks. The folks that use Uberschalls are usually into hardcore, punk or metal. Some classic rock guys may pick one up thinking they can roll back the gain, crank the treble and get a bright vintage rock tone and it just wasn't designed for that (that's more Metropolis or Shiva territory, but that's a whole 'nuther story).

For high gain, it'd be the first thing I look into (just because I know I like the overall Bogner sound).

The first thing I thougt of was the new Bogner, but the Duende isn't going to appeal to the Uberschall crowd.

I'm really torn on the Uberschall... on one hand, it does sound amazing, very thick, fat, juicy, rich... on the other hand, it costs as much as a Dual Recto and 5150 combined, and has a really honky midrange quality that doesn't always fit the mix.
