Why do we love Gold tops?

Re: Why do we love Gold tops?

They aren't really that gaudy, especially once they age a bit. Very understated, when compared to all those AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA+ quilts and flames out there these days.

THIS !

My Glendale Tele is Shoreline Gold & the checking looks great....LP Bullion Gold ages incredibly nice, esp. when you break threw a few layers & get that "green" in there. :bigthumb:

I must admit to a soft spot for goldies.
Something about the colour/shine
Its a pig to mix up the bronze flakes into the nitro, and it goes off after about 3 days, goes all green with the reaction of the lacquer to the bronze.

2 of mine..

Re: Why do we love Gold tops?

I know gold is iconic and classy, and guitarists really fetishize the past, but i think besides the fact i really don't like anything gold, for me if the image of (insert iconic photo of rockstar) is actually iconic, then it belongs to that one person. Once they do it, everyone else becomes...less cool, I guess.

Love it or Hate it for me-- After owning one, I realized I really only like the Goldtops that have that kinda green tinge to them (often after some age). The only Goldtop I've owned, (see below) unfortunately did not have that green tinge- not a fan of the PRS Goldtops.
