Why do you use compressor pedals in live gigs

Re: Why do you use compressor pedals in live gigs

I used one for a bit 20 some yrs back as a clean boost. It was ok, but as Moose mentions, there are better devices for that job.

Mine is on all the time....
Not used as a booster, nor as a sustainer...but as a compressor, and I have no issues with either noise nor dynamics.

I used one a lot back when I played a lot of Teles and Strats---gave them a nice kick and cut out some of the trebly peaks. I still carry one around (an old MXR) if I get stuck with a RI Twin or HR Deville backline...kinda cools them out a little.

I have a BYOC 5 knob, which has a blend control to blend in the original signal. I use it all the time on acoustic, and for solos on electric too.

Re: Why do you use compressor pedals in live gigs

I'm compressionally challenged. Sometime, I need to have somebody who really knows how to use one demo it for me.

I have one running at all times. And I use mine wrong. You can hear mine huffing & breathing through the system, but I've kinda grown to use noise like that in my playing. I like the sustain they provide, plus, they throw some "dirt" into the works.
