1) I agree. The Kevin Bond Rhoads and the mahog Soloist (FM and QM) are the only three guitars of the top of my head that are mahogany.

The Mark Morton model is also mahogany and has a TOM/stoptail, as well as two volumes and tones and coil tap switches. One of the most versatile guitars they make.

I love Jackson. Jackson is very familiar with and effective in this scheme. I'm hopeful he's back up to speed by the start of the regular season.
