He's clearly lost his mind. The doctor said that the only good sign at this point is his taste in guitars hasn't gone downhill.

Ha ha... never noticed that before.... "telecaster" and not just plain old telecaster eh? I get it. And I don't know the answer either.

Re: why is it a "telecaster"?

It´s probably like in those ads or product labels where another product is compared to or named. They're so used to not owning the products they name that they´ve forgotten which ones they own and which they don´t :laugh2:

Or they know how big they´ve gotten and don´t want to run the risk of inadvertently suing themselves :chairfall

In all honesty, I´d assume it has some historical significance, but I don´t have a clue. ;)

what in the name of Mr. Lemmy Kilmeister are you babbling about?

+10 cool points
Agreed, if he didn´t have gloss this would be a reason to give him one.

Had he spelled "Kilmister" correctly he may have actually himself become cool with this one sentence and thereby not needed points anymore :beerchug:

Well I'll be ****ed, I figured out what he was talking about. My telecaster actually doesn't have a Fender neck so I really had no clue.

LOL, that's classic. I want to know the answer too, now. It's like there's some Fender in-joke we're not in on.

Re: why is it a "telecaster"?

Because "Broadkaster" was already taken.

Leo had intended the Telecaster to be called the Broadcaster, but Gretsch already had a drumkit with the other spelling. In order to avoid any problems, he changed the name, but wanted to keep the avenue open to go back to Broadcaster if they ever desired. The quote marks are just sort of a prompt in case Fender ever chooses to go back to Broadcaster.

Re: why is it a "telecaster"?

^^ you know what, I actually think I recall hearing about this a few years ago already.. I knew about the Broadkaster Drumkit / Tele naming pickle, but didn´t think about the quotes. Doesn´t necessarily mean it´s true, but a bell is ringing...
