Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

Gentlemen, add your thoughts to this one . . .

. . . why is Boss (the KING of, "mass-produced-everything") not giving us a "proper" fuzz unit ?

Yes they had the FZ-series (...in the 90's), but i heard nothing but bad, luke-warm, or love-hate, comments about them.
(even the folks over at the Bossforum has major mixed feelings about those two)

So, my thought, is this, they have given us gems in all directions, Delay, OverDrive, Dist, you name it, they have or did have a a brilliant product somewhere along the line !

Also, with the popularity of Fuzz getting bigger than ever before . . . (and still growing day by day)

. . . where is their offering ???

Surely they MUST KNOW that there is a HUGE market for a Fuzz !!!

They are loosing out on this section of the pedal-market (and it is a bloody BIG section)

Hell, their R&D budget is probably soooo big, they can give us 3 models, just like their OD's & Distorto units.

BOSS, I WANT SOME FUZZES FROM YOU

. . . gentlemen, your thoughts.

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

I don't think there's enough of a market to support the fuzz pedals . . . most people who are really into fuzz are the kind of people who say "true bypass or nothing" so they wouldn't be that into boss fuzzes. I think that boss pedals kinda get a bad rep these days, although I have no idea why . . .

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

dare a mass production co. to put out a good fuzz pedal.....thats something that comes from a boutique shop.

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

you want fuzz? get a tweak fuzz!!

i love my voodoo lab superfuzz but i a/b'd it with a tweak fuzz the other day and i gotta say the tweak was better

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

How does a fuzz differ from a distortion pedal or overdrive unit? I've never used a fuzz before so i have no idea what they are about or what they sound like.

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

someone needs to make a reasonably priced Univox Superfuzz clone or reissue. Killer pedal, way too rare, and I sold mine dammit!

Just goes to show how tastes differ !

I LOVE the VD SupeFuzz (i am getting one in Febr.), but the Tweak fuzz clips that i heard did nothiong to me ! :(

To my ears, is is NOT 6 diff. fuzz tones in one box :blackeye: ,but rather the same tone that just gets thinner and tin'ier as you turn the knob [ . . . the same effect as the Vari-Tone on the Gibbo ES-335 and Blues Hawk.]

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

ialways concidered the DS1 to be on the edge of Distortion pedal's Fuzz range..... It is pretty fuzzy... i use DS1's a lot and have for 20 years...

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

Mode 1 of the Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion has fuzz like qualities. Mode II is plain useless though (IMO)

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

I kind of liked the Hyperfuzz I played with a couple of years ago.

The clean boost function rocked too.

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

Tweak fuzz is a very good unit. I'd recommend it to anybody, my favorite fuzz ive tried (over fulltone and roger mayer units)

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

My bass player has a Boss Hyperfuzz that i run through my rig sometimes. It can get some cool tones, it definately is a love/hate pedal though.

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

The FZ2 was pretty cool.

I'm thinking that Boss probably doesn't move enough fuzz units to justify building new ones. I'm also thinking that most of their distortion pedals will cross over into fuzz territory when cranked.

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

The Tweak Fuzz is a remarkable fuzz pedal, if you're into that sort of thing.

Re: Why is there no Boss Fuzz pedals ?

I have an old Germanium Schaller fuzz, with a slight mod....I need little else as it gives me everything I ever wanted from a fuzz...
But speaking of fuzz....hehehe

Come on, we can NEVER have too much fuzz. - FACT :smokin:
