I wonder what on earth they are thinking. Kramer and Steinberger weren't worth much when they got them, but with decent management they might well have had the positions Charvel and .strandberg* have today; they should have had a head start on both based on brand recognition. Instead, neither company even manages to produce guitars on a regular basis. It is deeply frustrating, because I will admit being emotionally attached to both companies and wanting to see them succeed, yet nothing happens, at the same time as it is proven daily that there would be a market for them if Gibson could get their act together.

Steinberger was indeed bought by Gibson, who ran them into the ground, like they did with Tobias, Opcode, Kramer, and Cakewalk. They occasionally do runs of their Spirit models (approx $400US), but the graphite and TransTrem models are done. Ned Steinberger now runs NS design, but they currently aren't producing a 6 string guitar.
