Ferrington is another custom builder who uses basswood or basswood/ maple top combinations, most notably on Richard Thompson's ax.

I use mine until they fall apart, because at the end of the day they are just tools

I agree. I remember there being a thread a while back where someone (oh yeah the stainless steel fret thread!). Said that instruments aren't tools that are supposed to last long and be reliable, they are supposed to just sound good. blah.

man, that makes two of us. Not one of my guitars have lasted more than 3 months without the damn Straplocks ripping out, the Basswood Peavey Wolfgang needs treatment really often, i'm getting through gaffa tape at a rate of knots.
