Re: Wilkinson bridges
The modern Wilkie 5+1 Strat vintage type bridge is a good bridge, MIK I think. It has the USA mounting spacing ( 2 and 7/32's?), but it has the 2 and 1/8" string spacing, which is a narrow spacing compared to a vintage spec bridge. For some instances, the narrow spacing works out, but in general I do not like it. You can get the Wilkinson 5+1 with a steel block, or non steel high mass block , which the non steel is less expensive
The problem I have with these and all, even Callaham bridges, is the saddle screws; they end up wobbling in the saddle (and I dont think the saddle is the problem , but not certain) which makes messing with the saddle hight problematic, and cuases tuning issues, but you can buy best quality aftermarket stainless saddle screws that mitigate or fix that issue .
