Wiring a 2x12 question

I’m wiring a couple Celestion G12s-50’s into a cabinet. These speakers are 15 ohm. Wired in parallel, I’m getting a reading at the jack of 5.4 ohms. Too low? Will this cause problems plugging into an 8ohm tap.

Re: Wiring a 2x12 question

Realized I had the (+) and (-) wired wrong from the jack.

Now I’m getting 6.4 ohms. Better, but still seems a bit low. Safe?

Never mind. Turns out PFDarkside answered my question a few years ago. :approve:

Re: Wiring a 2x12 question

I believe your meter is reading resistance, not impedance. You will get a resistance reading, but it will be about 3/4's of the impedance.

Are they similar to the Celestion Rocket 50's?

Re: Wiring a 2x12 question

I had those speakers in BF Fender Bandmaster cab and LOVED them.

Bill

They are surprisingly good sounding. A lot of what I’ve read on them wasn’t favorable, but I like them.

I’m not sure what I’d compare them to. They came in an Avatar 2x12 I bought used.
