wiring an EVH Wolfgang humbucker in parallel?

Trying to find a way to make the neck pickup on my EVH Wolfgang pickup a little less fat sounding, and thought I'd try wiring it in parallel.

Problem is, I can't find a wiring diagram to get me there. From what I can tell, the wiring is red for hot, the black is ground and the green and white are soldered together.

So, would red/white soldered together as the hot and black/green for the ground work? Seems pretty close to how a Dimarzio would be wired in parallel (i.e. the red is usually the hot, and green is usually ground, so red/white = hot and black/green = ground seems like it should work.

I don't know why EVH doesn't want anyone to have instructions for wiring their pickups in parallel...

You can always crack it open and see what wires are coming from what coils.

Do you have a meter? That'll tell you what's what without having to disassemble the pickup at all.

It's a Fender humbucker, BTW, so I imagine it follows their conventions.

Actually, from what I see of pictures of it, the wires are exposed on the back. One coil is black and white, the other is red and green, so you'd want to wire red/white and black/green.

cool, sounds easy enough! The big question will be how the wolfgang pickup sounds in parallel-- the neck pickup is about 16K, so it should still have enough power in parallel.

Let us know how it sounds. I've been thinking of doing the same to the neck pickup on my Peavey Wolfgang.
