Wiring diagram request

Bought a guitar with a broken switch. I have a 5 way super switch. With the jb/jazz set. One vol one tone.
How do I wire it up to get this configuration?

Re: Wiring diagram request

Hi Lazy.
Not seen this configuration before. Is this how the guitar was originally wired?
I have looked on Seymour Duncan, nothing the same. Dimarzio have revamped their site and wiring diagrams are still not up! GuitarElectronics.com do not seem to cover 5-way super switches!
There are similar setups on these sites but not that exact one.

Re: Wiring diagram request

Yeah it came exactly like that, the stock switch was a schecter switch. The guitar is a 2015 C1 classic. That diagram was taken from schecter wiring scheme. I've emailed schecter, they said an experienced tech should be able to fix it for me.

Re: Wiring diagram request

That's easy to do with a superswitch. But I've got a couple ahead of you, and I move kinda slow these days. If you're patient, we'll get it.

Re: Wiring diagram request

Dont mind waiting, other guitars can be played and time is all I've got. Plus you're helping me out with your time, so the least I can do is be patient.

How different are the two parallel modes (2&4)? I’ve always liked outside and inside, like this

I cant say, when I bought the guitar the switch was already broken. I'm just trying to get it back to stock. But I am interested in the positions you posted. Looks like it covers a good array of tones.

I like it but I always wonder about other sounds :)

I’m sure ArtieToo can figure it out with your superswitch but my image is with a Schaller megaswitch M. Scroll to HH8 here https://schaller.info/en/hh

Re: Wiring diagram request

Is the broken switch still wired into the guitar. If so could you make a diagram from the existing wiring, then rewire a new 5-way super switch to get the same options.

Re: Wiring diagram request

Too late now, but I always take snaps of wiring before modding. This has saved me on several occasions. If the same switch can be sourced you could post a plea for another Schecter 2015 C1 classic owner to snap their wiring. Otherwise the Schaller Megaswitch route could be your best bet. Look at the bottom of the page on the Schaller website pages for a comprehensive list of all their switching options. https://schaller.info/en/megaswitches

Re: Wiring diagram request

So when I got the guitar and the switch didnt work I contacted schecter directly. Since I live in LA and schecter is based in Burbank I asked if I can pick up a new switch. They told me to take it to guitar center or sam ash to have anyone look at it because it's a simple fix. About 3 weeks ago at guitar center Pasadena the tech lady there just told me to wire it up with a 3 way switch. So that's that.

Re: Wiring diagram request

I've already seen what you posted. When I was doing research and trying to figure this out before asking for help. Yeah, that would work great if I had schecter's proprietary switch. A regular 5 way switch wired like that gives me no sound at all. I bought a 5 way super switch to try an accomplish my goal, but no wiring diagram. I've contacted schecter, they wont actually give me a wiring diagram. But thanks for trying.

Are you positive that the Schecter 5 position is not just a standard, import box switch rather than a proprietary switch?

If that ain't it, check here. I haven't looked but maybe one of these helps.

Re: Wiring diagram request

I think the Schecter pairs the lugs in sequence. But if you can read a diagram enough to wire and troubleshoot a guitar, you should be able to work out what the lug positions are and which lugs are common.

So for a standard Fender CRL type the lugs are a pattern like this (I’m showing 1 is the bridge and 5 is the neck)
C-1-3-5
1-3-5-C

Schecter *might* be *something like* this
C-1-1-3-3-5-5-C
...but I’m not 100% sure. If you read other Schecter diagrams, they number the lugs and you see that kind of pattern.

But all that aside, if you understand what wires are required for each position, you should be able to work out how it needs to be on any switch.

For example, to split to slug, pickup series wires (red + white) go to ground.

To split to screw coil, pickup series wires go to positive (or you can get trickier and just get the red wire to positive somehow, but that usually require a super switch, I believe).

To run pickups in series, you have to connect the ground of one pickup (green) to the hot (black) of the other, somehow. For this, ensure the bare wire is always grounded separately from the green wire of the pickup you are putting in series. (The Schecter diagram appears to be putting the bridge in series with the neck.)

Knowing all that, you should be able to work it out. You just need to know the lug pattern of a normal 5-way blade. The Schecter switch is irrelevant if you are not using it.
