Wiring experts....

Ok Gurus...I picked up this 4 way tele mod switch thinking I could figure this out, but no dice...

Here is the diagram I'm trying to work off

What I want to achieve is

Positon 1 Bridge
2 Neck/Bridge
3 Neck
4 Tapped Bridge/Neck

I'm using 1 vol. control no tone


Help me Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez!

Oh yeah, the pickups I'm using are Bill Lawrence L500C and L250C.

This is quick & dirty because I don't have a 4-way in my hand. But it gives you the basic concept:

Two things to be aware of: The bottom of that switch represents the "common" terminal. Sometimes, the opposite said will have the common on the other end. If it does, you have to reverse one side of that drawing.

The other thing is, there are some limitations with that switch. You will only be able to "split" to one side. If those were Duncan pups, you'ld be splitting to the adjustable side. Since they're BL rails, it shouldn't matter, but it may not be humbucking in the split mode. Its just a limitation of that switch.

Just look carefully at the switch. The common terminal is a bit longer than the others. (Internally) If the one on the opposite side is on the other end, I can redraw that to reflect that.

ok....wired it up like in the diagram without seeing your other 2 replys....Sorry, I'm wiring retardid...

Anyway, after wiring it up, no dice.....the only pos. I can get a strong signal by tapping the pickup is the 3rd and that's on the neck pickup. So I'm assuming that have everything opposite of what it's supposed to be! A couple three things though...

when you say common lug, that one should be facing the buttom of the guard correct?

Also what lug is the ground?

And finally, my neck pickup is only 2 conductor instead of 4

None of the lugs on the 4-way go to ground. Look at that large pic I posted. The "common" is the one that extends a bit deeper into the switch mechanism. If you look closely as you move the handle, you'll see that it slides along a piece of metal all the time. That same piece of metal will contact the other lugs one at a time.

In other words, its common, to all the other terminals. Look closely on the other side. Its common may be opposite. That is, either end.

Thats what makes it hard for me to draw the exact diagram, because I don't have one in my hand. :yell:

Hey bro, I tell you what. I've got a 5 super switch that has a diagram for everything I want this setup to do and more. So I'm going to do that......But for taking you time and trying to help me out, PM me your address and I'll send this switch to you for your efforts!

Ok, try this:

Your switch should look like this:

The red arrow shows the common terminal on one side. The common on the other side will either be the blue or the green arrow. Its probably the green. If so, wire it up like this:

If its the blue arrow, wire it up like this:

I know those are hard to see, but look closely. That should do it.
btw - One other thing. I don't know BL color codes, so you need to transpose those also. Those colors in my diagram don't mean anything other than to keep the wires separated. (So you don't get them crossed.)

One more thing, where it says "neck split wire" and "bridge split wire", that refers to whatever wires BL uses for splitting. If it was a SD pickup, those would be the red/white combo from each pup.
