Wiring help

I have 2 Female nutrik 1\4 inch jacks and I want to wire them together, they have Ring , tip and Sleeve tabs on them, but a regular guitar cable has only 2 wires in it.

Is the ring ,tip and Sleeve, for if I want to run stereo, which I don't and if so, which do I use for a mono connection?

Also which one would be used for ground?

Im making a real small patchbay and just want them to run from front to back.

If I understand you correctly, you just want to convert a stereo plug/jack to mono operation. Connect ring and sleeve together for ground, tip to hot, should do it.

I just wanted to run one jack to the next but not in stereo, I went ground to ground and tip to tip, and just left out the ring tabs altogether. It works, but should I have connected the ring together with the sleeve anyway? Thanks!
