ok, I have fallen in love with the audio samples of the vintage jazzmaster pickups on the Seymour Duncan website. After studying the wiring schematic for a while I have decided that the dual circuit design of the Jazzmaster is just a little silly.
I don't know if anyone has tried this or not, but I want to simplify the circuit and wire the pickups to individual volume pots, and then to a 3-way switch, to a tone control then to the jack. Using this setup will I be able to get a sound more or less like what I'm hearing from the audio samples? Or will I be sacrificing tone for simplicity?
I'm not even entirely certain of what the "lead" circuit on a jazzmaster does. Is it a series/parrallel switch or something?
Are the 1 meg pots neccessary for these pickups or can I get away with 250k's?
I'm not an electronics expert, so be gentle concerning my ignorance.
