wiring problems with a varitone & tone pot

I'm having problems with my varitone and my tone pot. The thing is that my varitone only works in the tone 1 pos. It works in all switck pos and in the pull/push fase of the pot. After that its normall tone. Also the tone pot only works as a tone from 1-4 the rest of the pos in the pot sounds like the humbucker has no tone. Like if you where to put the humbucker in the lug with no tone pot and the sound of the humbucker is its natural sound.

I have the varitone directly to the jack and the tone has no cap. the lug 2 goes to the vol and the 1 to ground. I tried to put the varitone to the second lug of the tone pot like a regular cap to see it had any effect to it and the same thing.

Also the pic shows that the green wire from the neck pickup is missing in the diagram. Is not like that in the axe.

mann....im having difficulties understanding what u mean and the drawing.

is that a 3 way switch u're using ? i think u miswired it.

let's clear several things :

- your varitone is 5 position ? how do u wire the caps to the lugs in the rotary switch ?

- so u mean you wanna use potentiometer so that you can dial the amount of cut of every varitone position ?

u can try this. Your varitone works for all ur pickups the selector.

pos 1 - bypass the varitone

pos 2 to 6 - gradually select the caps in the varitone.

the tone will dial the right amount of bass-cut from your varitone.

Re: wiring problems with a varitone & tone pot

That's what I wanted to do and I've tried that but I only get it to work in pos 1 of the tone pot.

The varitone is a 12 pos and pos 1 is bypass. The switch is a 3 way. I wanted a master vol and a master tone. If it doesn't work like this can it be done as a regular tone insyed as a master tone.

I've also tried to change the pot to see if its damaged and the same thing happens.
