Wiring question Push/Pull as blower switch

Hi Guitar Friends,
First of all I apologize if I am posting my question in the wrong lounge or if there is an answer to a similar question. I really couldn’t find it.

I am a newbie in soldering and wiring stuff, that way my question might sound obvious for some of you.

Here is a list of electronics I have on my guitar:
• Two humbuckers 59 Neck/Distortion Bridge
• One volume pot
• One tone pot with push/pull
• One three way toggle switch

What I would like to accomplish is:
• Position one – bridge pickup
• Position two (middle) – inner coils of both pickups
• Position three – neck pickup
• Have the push pull working like a blower switch, sending the bridge humbucker to the output, ignoring all current settings (volume, tone and pickup selector)

Do you guys know if it is possible?
Where can I find this wiring diagram?

In position 2, if it's both humbucker doesn't suit you ?
second question : by blower you mean have only th bridge directly to the output or add the bridge to any position ?

Hi NiKo,

First of all thanks for your help on it.
About position 2 I prefer to have the single coil sound.
It is better for clean and funk stuff.

About the blower I mean the bridge pickup going directly to the output.
All other settings are bypassed.

Yeah, I see. I will not be able to help you for the switch wiring as I don't know much about that But I'll try to find something for the blower switch ! I'll update as soon as I can !

You cannot do your position two with the typical simple 3 way single pole selector switch. You need 3 poles at least, usually the selector and both sides or poles of a push/pull.

You can do it if you are willing to change the selector switch to a 5 way 4 pole rotary switch, available from Stewmac for instance. You need enough depth in the guitar body so it will fit. The tone push/pull is then redundant.

Pos 1 - Bridge only volume tone bypass
Pos 2 - Bridge only with volume and tone. Usual treble selector position.
Pos 3 - Both humbuckers in parallel. Usual middle selector position.
Pos 4 - Neck only with volume and tone. Usual rhythm selector position.
Pos 5 - The two inner coils. Connect one of the pole 3 or 4 common grounds to the volume input lug for a humbucking pair.

Green from both pups to common.ground.

Pole 1
Common input - bridge black
Out position 1 - jack tip
Out position 2 - volume pot input
Out position 3 - volume pot input
Out position 4 -
Out position 5 - volume pot input

Pole 2
Common input - neck black
Out position 1 -
Out position 2 -
Out position 3 - volume pot input
Out position 4 - volume pot input
Out position 5 - volume pot input

Pole 3
Common input - bridge red and white
Out position 1 -
Out position 2 -
Out position 3 -
Out position 4 -
Out position 5 - common ground

Pole 4
Common input - neck red and white
Out position 1 -
Out position 2 -
Out position 3 -
Out position 4 -
Out position 5 - common ground

Here it is ! this diagram is for the blower, I put in violet the wires you have to add at your wiring.
The pot I've drew is your tone pot, I've add it to show you were is the up and the down of your Push/Pull but it's the tone pot (in position 2 you'll have both humbucker, no coil split)

I've made this with paint so it's crappy looking but I hope it might help you !

Sorry man, but that's not correct. The "blower" switch will only work properly when the 3-way is in the neck position. In the middle or bridge position, the volume, tone, and neck pickups still work.
