Aren't the wires for the FS-1 reversed? Instead of black being ground and white being hot, black is hot and goes to the switch?

Re: Wiring the Dimarzio FS-1

Context is everything. The order in which the conductors of a single coil pickup may vary according to what other pickups appear on the same instrument.

I will only be running the FS-1 with a neck pickup. I will not be coil splitting or coil tapping nor am I interested in RWRP. That's my context.

Funk's point is the wires are relative. There's a beginning and end of the coil, so there really isn't a wrong/right way to wire them. You can reverse the leads on either pickup to make them sound correct in the middle position.

I thought pickups had a hot wire that supposed to go to the switch and a ground wire that's supposed to go to the back of a pot.

They are trying to save you from having issues with phasing. Not all pickups are wound in the same direction, infact fender changed the direction that their pickups were wound in. Alone this is no issue but when you combine them it is possible they are out of phase and it sounds janky....

So please help us help you and tell us what other pickup are you using it with so we can give you the correct wiring.

I will be using Dimarzio True Velvets in the neck and middle.
