Would a Phat Cat (P90) neck work with a humbucker bridge?

Has anyone ever tried to pair a P-90 and a humbucking pickup in an LP, or is it just wrong?:no1:

i think it would work fine. the phat cat has plenty of umph to much up with a bucker

I have that combo in a 2 guitars paired with a 59/Custom Hybrid in the bridge... it balances great with a Custom Custom in the bridge as well!

That's good to hear. What do you think about a bridge version in the neck? There's one cheap on ebay. (Don't tell anyone!):27:

The neck version is already pretty warm... in fact, I wish it were underwound to about 7k... that said, I would NOT recommend the Bridge version in the neck.

The Neck definitely wants to see a 500k... the Bridge seems ok with 500k or 250k

I'm thinking about one of the Customs. I see alot of disagreement among people about the Custom vs. the C5 vs. the CC so I'll have to look into it more.

Try them all; magnet swapping is ridiculously easy. I'd order the CC though, as Alnico 5 and ceramic mags are easier to come by.

I've got a Phat Cat neck on the way:cool3: I've never found a neck tone I like with the HB's I've tried, I prefer single coil necks so I'm hoping this will give me something different and unique.

A Alnico V with a coil cut, maybe a 59'. I tried one of those DiMarzio "Humbukers From Hell" and at the time I didn't care for it.

You bet. BachtoRock has two guitars with Phat Cat necks and HB bridge's and seems to have a good ear.
