Would installing my CTS pots affect this?

I recently switched from the POD HD Series back to the XT Series which I do like much better. The EQ in the HD Series totally sucks and is only suitable for mathematicians. But for some reason I seem to be getting a bright, raspy tone when I pluck the strings. Almost like the edges of my pick are made from sharp glass.

I did pickup a CTS wiring harness that I haven't installed yet but would like to ask if changing to those higher grade pots would give me a better more mellow tone? My pickups are good they're Dimarzio PAF Pro and 36th Anniversary.

I always play with my volume full up and I don't use the tone knob so I don't know how much of an effect there would be?

Thoughts?

I wonder if you'd get the same sound plugged into an amp- I had a hard time with the high end on a POD HD, too, which is why I sold it.

The description of the sound makes me think of tube or battery problems in other gear I've experienced in the past. I can't imagine what would generate that kind of sound in a software emulation.

A EQ suited for only mathematics...:scratchch So i suppose it looks like a graph plot on the screen when selected, controls would be parametric then I guess instead of GEQ bands/sliders. Sharp sound from plucked strings, could be the cab sims are turned off in system settings.

CTS pots won't help, unless the 36th bridge sounds excessively bright through a normal amp as well, then lower value pots or modern wiring could help.
