I want to put a pearly gates pick up from my les paul copy to my start but i dont want it to sound or seem weird with that pup in it
Would it be weird if i put an SD pearly gates in my Strat??? Help Please!!!

Fender actually used the PG+ in the bridge position of alot of strats,though it was an A5 magnet pickup and slightly over-wound...Go for it...I found the PG+ to be a bit too toppy/bright for my tastes and I've used the Dimarzio Fred forever in my one strat that has a fullsized bucker..

It will not be weird - in FAct, it will be AWESOME. Go ask in the pickup lounge about the PG vs the PG+ which is what Fender puts in its TExas Roadhouse Strats.

I never tryed it but I probably would have liked the PG in my own strat over the PG+?I got rid of the pickup instead of trying the A2 magnet...

The PG's attack and its bright tone make it more single coil flavor than most humbuckers. It is a very popular combination with single coils. I had one in a strat and it didn't sound out of place at all.

The PG+ was ok in one of my strats,but I went with a larger value tone cap at the bridge position and it shaved some of the highs off..It was just too toppy for me..As mentioned,I maybe should have just switched to A2,as I normally do favor A2 in the bridge pickups in most of my guitars..These days though(Thanks to Blueman) I find the UOA5 to be a perfect common ground between A2 and A5..This is whats in my 335 Ibanez copy..

This guy gets a really good tone, IMO, with the Pearly Gates Trembucker in his Strat. I bought one just like this, cover and everything, for my Strat after listening to this demo. IMO, the Pearly Gates neck is the best Duncan neck humbucker of them all, and the Pearly Gates bridge is one of my 2 or 3 favorite Duncan humbuckers.
Does this sound to sizzley or to bright or to harsh or any of those other negative descriptive terms that gets thrown around on the internet? No? I don't think so either. I can only think of one word to describe the Pearly Gates: GOOD!

I don't dislike the PG really Lew...In my case maybe just a combination of the guitar and the stuff after the guitar...That's why it's good that these days we have all these cool choices...Beats having to sell a guitar or let the guitar sit because of a dead pickup,or a guitar that just doesn't quite satisfy! Just different strokes I guess?

Since he has the PG in a LP and is asking about putting it in a Strat one has to assume he's looking for something that he's not getting from the PG in the LP...

Remember in the 'Alien' movies, how when they were injured they have this weird yellow blood that eats thru everything, even metal. That's exactly what happened to this guy's Strat. I would not make this up. From what I hear with my Hollywood connections, that's where they got the idea for it in the Alien movies. The director had a friend with a Strat with a big hole eaten out of it from a PG. There was a hole in his floor and found the pickup in the apartment below. Landlord was pissed. So yeah, do it at your own risk.
