Would these two pickups work together?

Hey, I'm planning on buying a new guitar after christmas, however I need to change the pickups in them.
I've already more or less settled for an Invader in the bridge, however I'm still a little unsure about the neck. I'm really liking the idea of a D-Activator X neck pickup, both for looks and the way it sounds, however since these are from different companies I don't know if they'd work together. Does anybody know? I'm really clueless in this department. Also, do you think this would be a decent match up? This'll be a metal(core) axe, and the Avenged Sevenfold fanboy in me made the Invader choice. I also play stuff like In Flames, Amon Amarth, Bullet For My Valentine (although I do have a guitar with EMGs for a BFMV sound if I can't achieve a similar sound with this guitar), A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon (just a wee bit) and other metalcore bands. (Yes, the black fringe, skinny jeans genre.)

So, would these match, both electronically and sonically? If not, please do recommend something

EDIT: Decided I might go with the Duncan Distortion istead, since the guitar I'm buying has a mahogany body, also while listening to a comparison I noticed the Distortion came through in the mix more than the Invader. I'm also considering a '59 in the neck (I know this is quite common). Would the '59 work for metal aswell as cleans?

They will work together. Have you watched the Seymour Duncan Metal Pickups Comparison videos? I used to think my JB was all that until I listened to this and fell in love with the Full Shred. You should listen to it and see which ones you like the most.

Yeah, I'm ordering via Thomann though (I live in Sweden) and AFAIK they don't have the Full Shred there. I might just buy the Invader at first though and then replace the neck pup with the Full Shred after I find a retailer that has one.

Re: Would these two pickups work together?

you'll have to keep track of the color codes on the wires being different.... other than that it's what ever sounds good to you.
Duncan pups you might consider for the neck:
Scream'n Demon
Full Shred Neck
Invader Neck
Distortion Neck
the Jazz

Thanks! I've been considering the Invader neck, although I've heard quite mixed thoughts on it. Do you have any experience with it? And which one(s) of those would you recommend?

Re: Would these two pickups work together?

I got a buddy that works at verizon wireless, and I keep trying to get him to try and make a Bring me the Horizon tribute band with his coworkers and call it Bring me the Verizon.

Re: Would these two pickups work together?

Also lot of people use the 59 or Jazz in the neck for versatility with a higher output bridge. Jazz is a little louder and more trebly and clear, 59 is a warmer alternative. The DD neck used to be an old model called te Seymourizer and it used to be used in the bridge, but matches output very well in the neck with the DD. Jazz is my personal favorite neck humbucker but mainly because I'm more of a neck single coil guy. Jazz kind of has the single coil brightness scoop and snap but it's also hum free with more harmonic overtones.

Re: Would these two pickups work together?

I used an Invader Bridge and a Stag Mag in the neck of my old BC Rich Mockingbird....they paired really nice together IMO....

Re: Would these two pickups work together?

For the sounds you want and (presumably) the guitar, TB-5 Custom in the bridge, SH-1b 59 in the neck.

Re: Would these two pickups work together?

To get the answers you're looking for, you really need to define 'work together' as players have different definitions. Does that mean each one individually has tones that 'work' with the other one? If so, do you prefer bright bridges and warm necks, or for them to have a more similar EQ? Does 'work together' mean just that they sound good in the middle toggle position when both are on? And that's effected by whether you have dependent volume controls, or independent (which lets you blend them).

Blindly asking 'work together' can be interpreted different ways, and if you're not more specific, the respondents have to guess at what you want.

What he said.

I have a Distortion in the bridge of my guitars with a 59 in the neck, and to me those pickups work together because the Distortion provides all the gain I need with the 59 doing most of my clean work. I rarely have them in the middle toggle (probably never actually) but they make up for the other's shortcomings by doing exactly what I want them to do individually. I wouldn't use the DD for any amount of clean (only slightly overdriven when I turn the stompbox), while the 59 in the neck is too thick for a nice gritty lead sound (unless that's what I'm going for) for me.

Different strokes for different folks. Let us know and we hope to be able to provide you some better answers. Also what kind of guitar are these going in? I know that for mahogany like my guitars the DD sounds fantastic to my ears (it sounds fantastic in pretty much any setting I can think of, but I'm biased).

Re: Would these two pickups work together?

+1 for the DD in mahogony. What tuning are you using?

The 59n can get boomy in dropped tunings. I really like how thick that PU is tho.

Maybe go 59/custom or jazz in the neck

Re: Would these two pickups work together?

59n is a great pickup and very versatile but can be boomy. Pop an a4 or a2 mag in it and its killer. Jazz is a good option a very versatile pup but a little less character than the 59. Or make a 59/jazz hybrid with A4 mag for the win! That is my favorite neck pup

Had an RR3 with an invader set, so it had an invader N (the real one, guess someone went for preserving looks upgrading tne Detonators? or might have been uninformed about what they were).... Cant say anything bad about the neck pup, but wouldnt call it particularly impressive or love at first sight either

Guy who bought it from me now plays some surprisingly decent-sounding djenty core stuff on it (not my thing at all, but gotta acknowledge a well done powerful sound). The other guitarist in their band plays an Agile 8.

It's going into a B.C. Rich Mockingbird ST. Going to play in either Drop D or Drop C tuning, don't think I'll go lower than that.

Also, thanks everybody for the replies so far, really helpful!
