Would this work?

Well... Since I got my ibanez I realized I have an EMG-81 sitting here and I'm quite a bit in debt so I can't exactly run out and buy 2 more pickups to go with it.

So I was thinking of a way to run passive/active on the same guitar.

Since I don't need a tone pot with a basswood guitar... why not remove the tone knob and replace it with an on/off push/pull volume pot in 25k for the 81, and run the emg directly to that pot and use the active jack.

Then just run the wires from the other volume down to the jack.

Would this be the best sounding option for mixing passives with actives?

Re: Would this work?

I would run the passive to a 500K pot, and the 81 to a 25k pot, the outputs of the two to the proper locations on the selector switch and the switch to the output, use the stereo jack to turn the EMG on, and you're done!

In this case tho, you'll still have to run the bridge ground, but solder it to the 500K pot...

Hope that helps!
