Would you buy an Amp from me?

I'm thinking of making a website and offering some new Amplifiers from some major boutique makers and possibly some Tweed Fender clones with my own brand on them. All hand built, finest components, etc.,.

Question is... would you buy an amp from me? :)

I'm really thinking of doing this. I've got the office space for a demo lab. I think I could build a few Tweed Deluxes and Tweed Supers as well as stock a few high end boutique models.

Celtic Amplifiers.

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

Sure, you seem to be a grade A guy from what I've gathered.

I could set you up with a website and logo design :)

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

I would, if it were my style/within my price limit!

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

Well, I've already got the logo. My wife and I use it for her/our real estate company. My amps would be based on traditional old school Fender designs. At least the ones I build myself. The others would be things like Bad Cats, Fargens, Fuchs and the like. (if I can pull it off)

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

Think though scott, why dont you paint with a wider brush and offer more than the vintange blues and rockabilly amps? "Its not what you like, its the consumer."-EXTREMELY wise words spoken by none other than the master, Joe Dirt(deer-tay).

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

Well, some of the amps I'd offer that would not be made by me, would be more towards all styles of music.

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

Scott, my bro ...

big step

building a kit is one thing, designing an original amp is another, although I know that's not what you said you want to do ... but still I think it takes that much skill to start such a company ....

not only that, but it would become a job ... so just think about that, my man!

that said, I'll take a 3x10 Bandmaster :D does that answer the question?

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

scott, in addition to what curly said, its very difficult starting out considering how many boutique makers are out there, getting your name around could be difficult...

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

Sure, if I could take it out on the road, beat it up, expose it to the usual abuses of roadies, trucks, weather, etc... Set it up, play the BeJeezus out of it, tear it down, repeat all the above over and over.....and have it not only stand up to all of this, but actually excel under these conditions. If your amps can handle this....sign me up !!!! ...............:)

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

What some of you are not taking into account is that I've started several successful businesses, I'm an incredible salesman and I've got a lot of connections. We'll see. Curly is right, there's a ton of work involved.

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

I don't doubt for a second your ability to get it done, Scott !!! The one's with your name on em,....make em something special !!!!............:)

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

I'd do a lot of reading and asking silly questions first. LOTS of boutique amp manufacturers have come and gone over the years, and I'd seek out people in the know and ask them about the pitfalls. Gearjoneser might have some friends that may be able to help...

If the main part of the business is boutique amps by other sellers, that'll take the burden off the amp making end. Perhaps think 'sell other people's amps' as the main part and 'sell my amps' as the gravy.

Now here's what I think you should do: build near clones (tube availability permitting) of 60s Ampeg jet and reverberocket models. There's a hole in the market right there. These are great amps, and the ampeg reissues don't match up...

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

if i were checkin out amps i would absolutely think about it, i'm not one of those people that only buy from the big brands.

If anyone sould get it done I would figure you could. You strike me as a person that isn't afraid to work 23 out of 24 hours in a day. maybe even 24 1/2. I am sure you have boatloads of connections also. i will email you with an idea i have concerning a boutique amp. Maybe you could take it and run with it.
And I am always interested in new products!

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

assuming i was in the market and ur prices met my constraints, id definately go to you over others. would u offer kits as well?

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

Scott,
I will play Devil's Advocate to the Nth degree, for your sake, but encourage you no end.

I think you already know, from your first build, that I said I thought you were a good builder .... but even the good builders, like Bruce, experience problems when it comes to prototyping and producing stuff in numbers at a reasonable profit .... for some reason, it just seems easier to produce and sell custom guitars at a profit

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

Scott I could see you setting up an on-line amp dealership that would provide hard to find or limited availabiltiy amps but I can't see making much money selling amps you have built "personally". Your time is more valuable. If you can outsource the construction then perhaps. My brother and I have had long talks about this very topic. Now I don't underestimate your marketing skills and I trust your ethics but big question is what return do you expect for your time?
By the way you have got to hear my brother's AC-30 inspired amp SWEET.

If I covered Arizona, I'd be looking you up next time I was in town! Not my state though.

Re: Would you buy an Amp from me?

well scott you could always sell amps as a side project or hobby much like blueline whom building customs gutars is not his day job. I'm sure alot of people here would buy amps from you, and i guess you could have them order tha amp then you make it and eliver that way you wont have a surplus inventory.
