Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

...for $150?

I see they're going for $500-$600+.... But would the paint and hacked up pickguard decrease its value by much? If I buy it, I'll play it, but if I decide to sell it down the road, I'd like to know if I could make money on it.

for $150? hell yes. its a solid usa made guitar. id rewire it so it had "normal" controls if they havent already though

Re: Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

It's now mine.

Yes! Then strip it and repaint it with reranch

Looked into that quickly. Have you used the stuff? All aerosol based? Pretty easy product to use?

All the electronics are how they should be. The tone controls switching the pups from SC to HB is pretty cool.

You'd have to pay me 125.00 to play a T-60.

Not pointy enough?:D

I used another brand (wicked witch) but it worked fine.
One thing worth mentioning about nitro tho is that it takes months to fully cure, so if that old peavey was originally finished in a more modern paint (im assuming 70s?), then i would go for that rather than nitro. Cheaper, easier, faster and more hard wearing. Tonally there is really no difference as long as you dont cake it on super thick.

Re: Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

I've always been hesitant to pull the trigger on a T-60 because I keep second guessing myself on the price of the things. Love the look of 'em though.

that is a little bit confusing. A Pinto was a solid usa made car, you could fix the gas tank problem but...

A friend of mine has a T-60... I've always second-guessed buying one because I like my spine straight.

*HEAVY* sumbiotch guitar.

this isnt a pinto. its a t60. i wouldnt buy a pinto for any price, id pay 150 for a t60 in decent shape if i had less than 20 guitars.

No offense intended, just sorta pulling the made in USA chain. Sometimes I think too much emphasis is placed on that but more in general than specifically. Like Korea can make some excellent guitars but their pickups stink. USA leads the world in building the best pickups.

Re: Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

i agree that there are plenty of good guitars made in many places. the t60 was made for maybe 10 years and everyone ive played was a good guitar if you like the neck shape

Re: Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

Nice score. A paint job would do wonders. Too bad they hacked the pickguard.

Re: Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

Resale rule of thumb: as long as any modifications actually make the guitar better in some way, they don't hurt the resale except for collectors and a) who cares what collectors want and b) very few collectors would want one of those anyway.
I'd have bought it, too! In a heartbeat.
At this pointment you are free to do whatever you want to it. You might consider thinning down and/or chambering the body to cut down some of the weight. I dropped almost a half-pound off of a guitar with a lot of contouring and some thinning.

Re: Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

Yeah, I've heard these things were heavy, but holy crap!

So I've read, and heard on a few videos, that people like the blade pups better than these older toaster style (Guitar is a '79), saying these are too thin sounding. But I gotta say, I'm kind of liking the sound. They have sort of a fuzz sound to them. Which is different than any of my other HB guitars. I feel this guitar has a sound that'll be useful for some of my recording ideas.

As for the paint. I probably will bring it back to natural someday, but for now, I'll roll with it. Damn pickguards from WD are around $40 for a plain color! $70-$80 for a pearloid.

Re: Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

First of all, hit it like a bewitch in a trailer park that didn't bring your sammich fast enough.

- buck twenty five? HUGE win!

Now - Tear out every knob EXCEPT for the volume to the bridge, and remove the neck pup.

Then rock the bejabers out of it!!!!!! Looks like something ed would have done himself. VERY cool piece. Mucho Mojo.

Re: Would you buy this Peavey T-60....

Restore it and play it in your new wave band.
