Would you hit it?

Re: Would you hit it?

I prefer the name "S Paul". I saw one at a NAMM show a couple year ago. It had an odd weight balance.

Not a purist, not by a long shot so I'd say, if it feels right and sounds right then why the heck not?

Re: Would you hit it?

It's not actually a Gibson. I forget the exact brand, but it's made by a boutique builder that specializes in "what if" guitars. They also made a hollowbody Flying V with a Bigsby and many other guitars of that nature.

Not a big fan of the pickguard, or the leveling on the horns. Unless they beveled it all around maybe

I wasn't a big fan of the pickguard at first either. But then I got to think that's what gives it the Les Paul part of the look. If you saw somebody playing that from a distance, without it, you would probably just think that it's an SG. But with it, even from a distance you'd be like, "Dafuq!?".

I agree with both of your assessments, the pickguard is a bit of an eyesore, but without it the guitar looks like a really poorly copied lawsuit SG.
