Would you reccomend me a Carvin?

Re: Would you reccomend me a Carvin?

I wonder if Carvin will allow you to send them a set of Duncans/rings, so that your custom Carvin can be setup with those from the start? Carvin's pickup rings have a different hole placement, so a new ring won't fit without a few new holes being drilled.

I agree with Kherman about sticking with passive electronics. The actives seem good in theory, but add a hi-fi quality that's not that great.

Re: Would you reccomend me a Carvin?

Carvins are the best man. They have the best necks.. Usually the woods are better, their necks are better because they use carbon to stablize the neck, and they also use Ebony.. which is stiffer and feels better to me.. others won't like it, but I also think it sustains well.. hence the reason Gibson uses it on their Customs like Zakk uses, etc.. You can't go wrong with an American Made Carvin.. USA still makes the best production guitars for the money.. and Carvin proves it to me.. Shecters have some nice guitars, but the one's I've seen had paint run out, frets that needed work.. Carvins frets and action are the best from the factory.. They will install nothing but good bridges, hardware.. The only thing bad that you might not like from carvin would be their pickups, but I don't think they are as bad as most..

Dude,
Sell me that reverse headstock neck thru.. God I've got gas for that thing man! hehehe.. I love those neck thru's and that reverse headstock.. Reminds me of the old Kramers / Jacksons.. which have the best headstock on earth in the reverse models!

I'm very happy with all my Carvins.
They are very well made.
I've used them to practice, record, and gig
for years now.
They've never let me down.
Darn solid guitars.

Carvin uses much nicer woods than you get on Schecters.
Example.
Carvin uses Honduran mahogany.
Schecter uses Philipine mahogany.
Carvin figured tops are real 20mm thick tops.
Schecters are figured veneers over the carved mahogany body.
The only Schecter right now that compares to a Carvin is the new Exotic C1.

As you mentioned, with the Carvin you have many options to make the guitar to your preference.

Only thing I suggest is if you do not plan on getting one of Fishman piezo bridges,
For-go the actives electronics and just get the passives.
I rarely fiddle with my DC400's actives. Just the volume knob.
I much prefer the tone and simplicity of my Dc127 and DC727 passives.
My DC200 is passive as well. It's a LP type layout. Two volume, two tone.
