Would you trade a USA Strat for a Gibson Les Paul Studio

I have my 2012 American Fender Strat Sunburst for sale or for trade on craigslist. I got an offer to trade for a 2006 Gibson Les Paul Studio. I'm not really wanting this strat anymore. Does this seem like a fair trade or am I on the losing end?

Is the studio stock? I would say you're on the losing end IMO. I prefer the QC of MIA Fender over Gibson's studio line. If you want to unload the strat and get a new guitar, it seems like a win-win.

The studio has a JB is the bridge. That's the only upgrade. I figure I should probably just sell it. I am only asking $750. 00 with a case.

Used studios and Fender American Standards both go in the $600 to $800 range. Without regards to which one you should prefer (I like both), I think it is a decent deal. Assuming it is clean and stock, they are actually usually a little more pricey than a similar vintage Fender American Standard. Deluxes usually go used in the $800 to $1000 range these days.

The short of it is it is a fine deal, and fair.

No way would I make that trade. I'd keep the Strat.

Re: Would you trade a USA Strat for a Gibson Les Paul Studio

Is the strat a special or standard? Depending on the model of the Gibson, some of the specials was wery cheap at times and you'r strat might be worth allot more..

Re: Would you trade a USA Strat for a Gibson Les Paul Studio

I would get the year of the Gibson studio and google the price at the time and compare it to your :)

Re: Would you trade a USA Strat for a Gibson Les Paul Studio

If you can meet in person and try the guitar and check everything is allright and you dont want a strat at all then yea just do it price difference is small.

Check the frets so you dont need to spend money on refrets or anything like this..

Re: Would you trade a USA Strat for a Gibson Les Paul Studio

I would stick to the $750. If you want a Gibson, you will have a nice chunk of money towards a nice one and this way you can shop for what you want.

I have a '98 American Std. Strat in my avatar and a Gibson LP Studio in my signature. Both are great guitars and I would not give them up for a long long time.

I have to agree with Securb. If you really don't want the Strat, sell it and use the money to buy what you really want and can try out first to be sure.

Re: Would you trade a USA Strat for a Gibson Les Paul Studio

I spent a few days considering this same trade a few months ago. Every time I look at my Strat, I'm very, very glad I didn't.

Re: Would you trade a USA Strat for a Gibson Les Paul Studio

If you want a Gibson Les Paul and are sure you want to go stratless then do it.

Re: Would you trade a USA Strat for a Gibson Les Paul Studio

Strat is superior for playing IMO and a better model

Probably better specific build quality and resale value too
