WTB: Bone Stock

Frito's Better Half
Actually, I just need one piece. I just went through my stash and realized I don't have any bone pieces big enough for a Martin style nut. Plenty of saddle pieces, and Fender style nut sizes, but nothing for Martin. I plan on ordering some here in the next few days, but if anyone has a piece lying around, lemme know.

Re: WTB: Bone Stock

Don't have any bone, but I do have some mammoth ivory if that interests you. Let me know size you need (rough dimension) and I'll pop it in the mail.

Re: WTB: Bone Stock

Oh...how much do you have? I might be interested in taking more than needed at the moment off your hands.

Re: WTB: Bone Stock

I've got enough to do 10 or 12 nuts. I'm gonna need most of it, but I can give you a couple pieces -- should be enough to get 3-5 Gibson size nuts. PM your address and I'll ship it out Monday.

Re: WTB: Bone Stock

I know a few luthiers that actually buy dog treats at the supermarket, which have actual bones in them, just covered with like, dogfoodish paste or something......point of the story is, clean it up, bleach it, and you're set.

They're usually low quality stuff that's been treated. I need very high density bone, and the stuffs sold at the super market is usually on the soft side to aid in the dogs chewing it up, and doing it quickly so that they run out in a quick manner and have to buy more.
