Worth a shot.
Have you tried contacting SD customer support, might be a chance there.

Yeah, they won't sell the parts alone. They are willing to do, if I send in my pup. But I want to test and experiment myself.

Re: WTB: Screamin Demon Hex Screws

You're after socket head cap screws, the threads are 5-40. You can buy these pretty easily from specialty fasteners, probably for a lot cheaper than if you are buying from a guitar parts seller. If you can only find them in 1 inch lengths they are easy enough to cut down to size.

Re: WTB: Screamin Demon Hex Screws

i'd be looking for a used full shred, particularly the neck model

Re: WTB: Screamin Demon Hex Screws

I have 12 of these. How many do you want? PayPal me $7.00 for a USPS Priority Mail box and you can have as many as you like. I used these from time to time on a few Duncans, but I haven't touched them in a few years. I'm told they were from a Full Shred.

Re: WTB: Screamin Demon Hex Screws

no those won't work, I emailed that store already. Said those wouldn't fit SD humbuckers, I would have to drill the bobbins on the pup.

They fit the threading just fine, it's just that the socket head won't go into/below the bobbin like a Full Shred.
I also have a bunch of these in chrome, if you're interested.

Re: WTB: Screamin Demon Hex Screws

Here is one good way to go about your search:

Go to www.mcmaster.com.

Go to "Fastening and Joining."

Go to "Screws and Bolts."

Go to "Set Screws."

Narrow down the search by thread size to "5-40."

At this point, the list of matches becomes small enough to easily look over. Or, you can continue to narrow down the search by choosing the length you want. For instance, I clicked 3/4," and got two hits: 1) 18-8 stainless steel cup point for $7.80 (pack of 50), or 2) alloy steel cup point for $8.75 (pack of 50).

Then take what you need, and sell the rest to forum members in sets of six for $5. :D Hey, it's better than the $10 DiMarzio charges, and Duncan won't even sell 'em to ya!

there's been on-again off-again talk about the addiction allen screws not fitting Duncans.

if you want the same alloy that Duncan is using, go with the ones that B2D is offering.
