WTB/ Trans Blue Flame guitar, Preferably Strat shaped.

You heard me right. My buddy asked me to find him a trans blue strat/superstrat with a flamed/quilted maple top. That is the requirement. He is more interested in the look and style of the guit than anything else. His budget is $1500, although cheaper would be better. I am hoping to find him a nice guitar for that money, as he has never really had a nice guitar in the years I have known him. Things like Anderson, Suhr, Fender USA, Fender Custom Shop, Mayones, maybe PRS, etc would be nice, but post whatever you have and I will pass them along. The whole transaction will be done through me, as I have feedback on a ton of forums, Evilbay, etc. If he likes it, I will buy it.

Too bad, there was a gorgeous warmoth strat on my local CL for a few months. He went all out on it too, SS frets, locking tuners, good hardware, good pups, 50's fender V neck... Thing was beautiful, I would have loved to have it but no money. I think he put it on ebay after a while. Last I knew he was asking like $600-$800, somewhere in there. He said he spend over $2K on it.

Dang man! Sounds pretty sweet! I want to find him an investment guitar though. Something that will hold it's value a little bit at least ya know?

On occassion, the biggest difference between a $600 guitar and a $1500 guitar can be as small as the name on the headstock! You say you want to get him a "nice" guitar...That Warmoth looks like a really good deal for the price! Don't forget...Warmoth has supplied OEMs with premium bodies and necks for decades. That's a "nice" guitar for just over $600! Sure, you could spend $1000 on a similarly equipped Charvel or $1500 on a USA Fender, but you'd be paying for name, not the quality or features of the instrument!

What is your friend looking for feature-wise? Does he want a classic trem, Floyd Rose or fixed bridge? Is he picky about neck profiles? What about neck wood types? Does he prefer humbuckers or single coils (or both)? Does he want a guitar with or without a pickguard?

he wants either a Strat style trem or a fixed bridge. I want to get him a nice investment as well. I think he is pretty set on a mahogany body/maple top. He likes humbuckers more often than singles, but I think he wouldn't mind both. No pickguard unless it is the right guitar.

I am trying to get him to look at carvin. BUt he wants to spend a bit more and try to find a Suhr or Anderson.

Well to get mahogany he's most likely going to have to go custom. Also if he's wanting an anderson he's going to be spending much more than a warmoth or fender. Amazing quality but he's going to have to pay for it.

ah there are PLENTY of non custom guitars that have mahogany body wood dude.

Good find on that carvin bro! I forwarded that one to him, if it had Piezos, it would be one of the most versatile guitars ever made. I have had and still do have several of the Contour series. Love them.
