WTT: My actives for your passives.

Hey all. I have an AHB-1 Duncan Blackout (b) and an EMG 85 that I would like to trade for some passives. Something fairly high output for the bridge position. A Dimarzio Tone Zone would be superb for the bridge. Neck pups I am not too terribly picky about. Let me know what you have if interested. Thanks for lookin'.

Re: WTT: My actives for your passives.

You paired a blackout with an EMG? Never heard of it done before, how'd that work out for you? Or not so good, hence the trying to trade em out?

Btw, would you do cash for them? Do you have separate "actives guts" (stereo jack, at least one quick connect to avoid soldering to pins, 10/25/50k potentiometers, battery clip) for each, just the one set, or none included at all? Might be interested if it's a good deal and you've got the materials to install them in two separate guitars...

It actually sounds pretty damn good. The Blackout (b) and the 85 pair fairly well. Man I'm just jonesin' for some pups. I installed a Custom Shop El Diablo in a mahogany Ibanez and love the tone/feel/touch response of the passives vs. the actives. The actives are in a Schecter Solo 6 Elite. Mahogany body, flame maple top. Amazing setup really. I just have really bad GAS and am currently indecisive about where I want to go with the Solo 6. Hell, I may take the El Diablo out of the Ibby and stick it in the Schecter. To answer your question, I'm really just trying to get some pickups man. I would even trade just 1 for 1. Like a Duncan Custom, or like above a Dimarzio Tone Zone or Super 3.

Doubt you're interested, but suppose I could pull out a DiMarzio IBZ USA F2... Some places claim it's a ceramic Tone Zone, supposedly bit more trebly and balanced, less boomy. Stock in early nineties top-of-the-line MIJ Ibbies. Other than that, all I got at the moment is an Air Norton and some Texas Specials, though I kinda doubt that's your thing.

And maybe a set of really puzzling vintage Gotoh humbuckers - 12 hex poles looks like an exact ripoff of black super distortions, very hot-output but mysteriously PAF-ohmage when measured (can't explain it... another, lesser-known AlNiCo 8 pup or strange ceramic technology perhaps?) from the late 70s or early 80s. Even more confusingly, produce a telecaster sound when coil-tapped, though the brass saddles on the guitar might be at fault somewhat. Hold well against a flying Vee with a Gibson 500t/496r set, JBs, you name it, really nice treble response and a very "cutting" distorted tone from the harmonics coming off lower notes... though I'm a little unsure whether I wanna pull them outta that explorer, even for actives, and you might be less-than-enthused about more obscure old Japanese pups without the legends surrounding the Super 70.
