anyone have any idea what the difference with the 2 are. i read that all zakk used was the hendrix wah. now that he has this is it just a hendrix wah with a cooler design?

The difference? Marketing ploy. Go with something that your not paying for the name. If I had to choose, I'd go the ZW cuz itlooks cool and the Hendrix wah did NOT sound good to me when I used it, very harsh.

What you really have to decide is wheater you need all those features. Hendrix never used any of the features that are in "his" Wah. He used a Crybaby. IMHO what I would do is buy a stock Vox847 and send it to StratDeluer97 on this forum and have him mod it for you. The other otion is to buy a Fullertone Clyde or Clyde Deluxe. Right out of the box they are one of the best "vintage" sounding Wahs made. If you are looking for a vintage wah thats what I would do.

Re: Wylde Wah vs. Hendrx Wah?

im not looking for a vintage sound. im just looking for a wah to boost the highs pretty much.

The only "feature" of the Hendrix wah is a lowered frequency range. If you listen to Jimi's wah stuff, it sounds like he turned the pot a little lower than normal.

Re: Wylde Wah vs. Hendrx Wah?

Apparently the only difference between the Hendrix wah and a stock CryBaby is a capacitor changed in value to produce more bass response.

There's actually 2 additional caps in the JH-1 vs. the GCB-95. One is in parallel with the inductor and the other one is at the pot, from the wiper to ground. Same circuit otherwise. I added them on mine but didn't like it so I pulled 'em out.

I've been curious about the Wylde Wah myself.

Yeah I saw that. I have a Thomas organ Company Wah (from the early 60's). It sat in my closet for about 10 years because it sounded like Crap!. I sent it to John and now it is my main Wah. I have not compared them side by side, but I would say the best I have used is the Clyde Deluxe. Pretty awesome. Plug and play. Thats what I like.

Re: Wylde Wah vs. Hendrx Wah?

From what I understand, the Zakk wah is voiced differently than the Hendrix and it has the Fasel inductor, which has been the single most important component for me. I won't use non-Fasel wahs anymore.

Re: Wylde Wah vs. Hendrx Wah?

^ Try a Banzai Halo, it blew the living sh*t out of the Fasel I had in my Vox 847. And I literally mean blew the sh*t out of it. Theres still stains on my walls. 30 bucks for the Halo and its totally worth it.

Re: Wylde Wah vs. Hendrx Wah?

well i tried the 2 at my local guitar store and what i noticed is that the the wylde wah is just slightly more bassy than the hendrix. other than that the tone is exact almost. i almost like the wylde one better just because im a more bassy kinda player but i still dont know which one i will get.
