Xaviere Les paul copy, XV-500

Anyone ever play one, own one?

How can they offer all solid woods for such low prices? They must be cutting quality from somewhere... Is it worth buying the nice wood and upgrading the bridge and tuners?

I've contact them, and their gold top model seems to be the best right now. Solid maple top, and I think it's the only one right now with a long tenon fit neck. Improved headstock shape.

If it wasn't for the shipping cost to the UK, I'd definitely try one.

What do you think?

Worth a look with minimal risk. The finishes look interesting. Its hard to tell in the pictures but aside from some of them having a more satiny finish it also looks like they might not be clear coating over the binding, which is cool on both accounts. I can definitely see where the headstock was an eyesore before. The onther thing I would change are the inlays. Look too much like dots from a distance, which to me is unnatural on a LP type guitar. Id prefer the standard traps or nothing at all.

Heres one guys review of that exact same guitar.

I haven't played one of those but I love my XV-870 strat. Great guitar for the dough. I imagine the 500's are of comparable playability/quality.

I have the Xaviere SG and you get a lot of guitar for your money, on par with Epiphone and certainly better than the Iommi signature model. The only thing I have changed to date are the pickups and a 1K volume pot for the bridge pickup. It stays in tune quite well with the stock tuners. The one thing I didn't like is the fit of the back control plate (sloppy fit) and it appears they died the fretboard as my fingers look dirty after I've played it a while.

Re: Xaviere Les paul copy, XV-500

Figured I'd resurrect this thread to see if anyone has any opinions on Xaviere's guitars as I'm thinking of purchasing an XV-510 quilted maple in lemon drop, if they ever get any back in stock. Always wanted an LP style and at one point had a Memphis Les Paul copy that was stolen from me many, many years ago. But on topic, has anyone played an Xaviere and have an objective opinion they'd like to share?

Here's mine. Fantastic looking guitar, sounds great with the GFS Crunchy PAT humbuckers, which I believe are their versions of Super Distortions. It has a nice slim neck, unlike the baseball bat Gibsons. Lighter weight, too. Hardware is cheap though. Replace the bridge, nut and tuners (get locking) and you will have a great LP clone. You may also want to do a fret level for best results. I got some inlay stickers for <$20 on eBay that are absolutely unobtrusive and make it look more like a standard LP. Avoid the B-stock and go with the full price models.

Here's a sample clip of clean tones on my XV-500 (with chorus & delay):

Here's the XV-500 with distortion (first part is neck pickup, second chorus is bridge pickup):

I noticed a lot of the bad reviews on the InterWebz that I saw were based on B-stock guitars. I'm still shopping around for a budget LP, need to sell some things first. Goodbye pedals I don't use! LOL!!!

Actually it's closer to a Duncan Custom than anything. Awesome pickups, and they get even better with an A8.
