Yet another cool Peavey.

Peaveyologist
I was in one of my local guitar stores yesterday, and this caught my eye:

Peavey_JF-1_EXP_01.jpg

Large version.

I've never seen one of these before. It played, sounded, and looked great. Peavey says it has a "maple-laminate" body, but still, for $300 it ain't too bad. I liked it a bit better than the Ibby Artcore's.

Re: Yet another cool Peavey.

sharp lookin guitar man...

i love those "tear-drop" burst shapes...

Re: Yet another cool Peavey.

I'm very seriously considering getting the black version.
(Seen if you click the "large version" link in my first post.)

But - that sunburst, flame-top does look nice too. :32:

Edit: BTW - If you notice, all the photos for this, wherever they come from, have the "F" holes blacked out. There's a reason for that. All the wiring is visible inside the bottom hole. Kinda tacky, but I can fix that. ;)

If I'm not mistaken, it's one of the new Peavey JF-1's. I think they're Korean-made like the EXP Wolfgang's, but I've heard good things about them over on the Peavey forum. Never played one, but the import Peaveys are very nice guitars for the money.

I like the look of that sunburst as it does catch the eye quite nicely. What are the necks like - should imagine quite thin? and the sound I don't suppose those pups are any good but then again you could put in some Seth Lovers or Phat Cats and it may bring out the guitar. $300 is cheap!!

Actually, the neck is not thin at all. Its a bit thicker than either of my two other Peavey's, and much thicker than my boy's Squire Strat. It felt great to me.

I didn't plug it in, because frankly, I don't much care anymore what stock p'ups sound like. I know they'll be "Duncanized" shortly. ;)

But unplugged, the guitar had a reasonably nice tone. Much more volume and output than the Artcore's that I tried.

And yes, Seth's or Phat Cats is exactly what I had in mind. :)

Edit: I'll see if I can sneak a little ruler into the shop tomorrow, and take some measurements. ;)
