Yet another new song by my Band, up for anyone who wants to listen...

Re: Yet another new song by my Band, up for anyone who wants to listen...

Sounds familiar.... :scratchch

New tracks are freakin' awesome, dude. Dot is such a grower.

Re: Yet another new song by my Band, up for anyone who wants to listen...

Yeah. Like I listened and thought it was cool and then I listened to it more and liked it more every time. Like it grew on me. A grower.

It's really catchy but in like a sneaky way.

Ahh ok...haha. Well thats kool, most of my favorite songs are ones that the first time I listened to them I was like "hmm...That wasn't horrible I guess"...then over time heard them more and more, and dug em more each time.

Anyways, Thanks man. Glad ya dig it.

Re: Yet another new song by my Band, up for anyone who wants to listen...

That was great - really nicely crafted tune....I liked the rawness of it.

Re: Yet another new song by my Band, up for anyone who wants to listen...

sounds good man. really good. there's a couple things i think need some work though. first, i think it'd sound real good if you dialed in a bit more bass. not necessarily heavier, just more low end throughout. second, i keep hearing a slight bit of drifting here in there in most of your recordings, mostly from the drummer. maybe record with a metronome or work on your collective timing together? otherwise it sounds great. keep it up, bro:fing2:

also, how ya likin' the EQ?:fingersx:

Kool thanks for the the tips...I totally don't notice any noticeable drift in the drums on that one. Also...What were ya listening to it on? Cause there is a ridiculous amount of bass on this one, haha...Might just not translate on head phones, or smallish speakers. In my car, and every stereo I've listened to it on, tons of bass though. So I dunno.

Anyways, I actually haven't even used the eq, haha...Just plugged it in to make sure it works, and haven't touched it since, haha. Turns out I really can't find a use for an Eq most the time. Ya diggin the Flanger?

i'm listening to it through a large technics home theater stereo system hooked up to my computer along with some bright computer speakers set low as tweeters. i'll take a pic of it in a bit, it looks quite epic actually.

as for the flanger, check this thread:)

catchy! I like the vox a lot. song sounds like something you'd hear in a movie soundtrack.

Re: Yet another new song by my Band, up for anyone who wants to listen...

Indulge an old man for a moment.

The intro put me in mind of Peter Gabriel 3 ("Melt"). Then, I caught a whiff of "Lodger" period David Bowie. Then, instead, I began to think of the British New Wave groups from the early Eighties who were influenced by Bowie - particularly Bauhaus. By the end, the melody and fuzz tones reminded me of Nirvana.

If the intro guitar were doubled by raspy saxophone and the bass guitar were absolutely smothered in Boss CE-1 style chorus, the track would sound like Magazine (apart from the vocals, of course).

Well, I am totally glad to indulge you "Old" man, haha...47 isn't "old" btw...And ya know, I think this review/critique/whatever this is, is probably the koolest one I've heard! So thank you.

I've actually never really listened to much Peter Gabriel, so I had to download some songs off melt to see what you were talking about there, haha...And am Glad I did, so thanks for that...But everything else...
Bowie (specifically 80's bowie) was a huge early influence on me, as was alot of British new wave.
My sister is 10 years older than me, so when I was in grade school, she was in highschool...She always used to take me everywhere with her and her friends when i was little...So all through my childhood I had ALOT of exposure to all the English new wave bands that she was obsessed with (Particularly, The Cure, Siouxie, Echo and the Bunny Men, The Smiths, New Order, Joy Division, and Bauhaus). Plus all the 80's punk, and "Pop" she listened to (though she never listened to hair metal), Prince was actually the reason I wanted to start playing the guitar (Started playing at 8 years old), for what its worth.
I have never heard Magazine though...can't really seem to even find any clips on youtube...so I have no idea there, haha.
Also obviously, being a teenager in the 90's...its sort of impossible for Nirvana to not have had at least a little influence on me...So yeah.

But, anyways. Thanks! Dunno if that was meant as a compliment, but I'm definitely taking it that way, haha.

Oasis meets Marilyn Manson!

I'm back in the USSR!:cool2:

Being original and not writing clone music is not easy, we're so easily influenced.
Not a bad track for current times. It could do with a few production tweaks.:14:

Haha, I think he was saying it sounds Familiar, because he got to hear it a week or so before I actually put it up.

But thanks for implying I write "clone music" and am not original. haha.

I honestly couldn't figure out why the hell GV quoted me to say that. That makes sense.

Not sure if I ever actually thanked you for sending me those songs early, dude. So thanks, it was an honour. :beerchug:

No problem man...As soon as we finish up the drums and Vocals on the next batch I'll send ya those ones too, haha.

I meant it's hard not to sound derivative. Almost impossible really.
You yourself said it.

FF

You

The stuff I have on my Myspace site from the early 80's is " original material " but I could tell you what It's influenced by and people familiar with the 70's music can probably hear it too! It didn't sound like what most of my contemporary friends wrote, though.:14:

Yeah....I said its impossible to have not been influenced in some way by Nirvana, due to having grown up in the 90's...Being able to hear someones influences, or say "this reminds me of This, mixed with this, and This, and a pinch of this..."...is quite different than Implying some one is Unoriginal, or writes "clone" music. Ya know?

EDIT: After this point I had wrote something really mean, and heartless...So I've removed it. Ya don't dig us, thats kool. I will kindly keep my opinion of your music to myself, and ignore your opinions of mine. Its kool.
