YJM Fury or the SSL-3

Right now I've got an SSL-5 in the bridge position of my Classic Player '50s Strat. Great sound although it can be a tad bit bright. I was thinking of maybe trying an SSL-3 in that position to tame some of the brightness.

Also thinking of trying a set of YJM Fury pickups. I tried a set in my rosewood Malmsteen when I still had it and the sound was horrible. Total bass with no treble at all. Muck.

But I think they would sound better in a maple-necked Strat which is what I have now. Has anyone tried the Malmsteen pickups in a maple Strat and found them kinda on the bassy side?

Comments?

Re: YJM Fury or the SSL-3

I have the 2011 Fender Yngwie strat with maple neck/fretboard and the YJM Fury's. I think they sound awesome in it. Obviously they don't sound like true singlecoils and they definitely are on the bassier side of singlecoil-sounds but to my ears not even close being unusable. I'm afraid that if you think they sounded too bassy on your rosewood fretboard strat the difference might not be big enough for you to like them. If you have enough money to "give them a try" you should. I haven't played the SSL-3's so I can't comment on that.
