Dunno of this helps, but my Splawn importer friend told me that he finally got some of those cabs in, and said they made the heads sound 'even more VH'. Unfortunately they sold before I could run the rule over them...
I am basically looking for huge, bright and super tight low end, rolled of highs, and big, open, complex mids, would that fit the description of your friends VHesquenessness?
I'd love to get my hands on one of those Splawns... It's ridiculous that they have a distributor on New Zealand (no offense intended) but not in Europe.
Reminds me of Spawn... But from the clips Ive heard, the amps sound amazing!! I wanted a Quickrod, till I heard a Nitro... Now, Im glad Im broke or Id be having to make a tough choice..
The big block is similar the G12H30. The small block is similar, - I believe - to the Greenback. I have the Big Blocks in my 2x12. I like it. My understanding is that Scott worked with Eminence to get the voicing for the Splawn tone, and rounded out some of the high-end spike.
