You can buy Slash's guitar

Look close enough and you will see that the cap is not even centered on the guitar!!!! The caps centerline is a little too far to the right. for $40k, the centerline of the guitar better at least be correct. I don't care who owned it, Jimmy page himself even, I will not buy crap guitars. Gibson just happens to make crap guitars.

Did you see the recent SG that Robert Baker ( youtube ) got!!! Holy hell, it looked like a file got in a fight with a hack saw on the fretboard of that thing. It's not hard Gibson, make a good guitar and people will gladly shell out the dough. If this SG is any indication of the impact it may have on Mesa, OMG, I can't even....

It actually looks like the bridge is lower and the strap button is higher.

Gibson make crappy guitars? Do you even own one?

NOPE. And by the looks and scope of things, probably never. I will likely make my own copy one day, but I will NOT give Gibson my money, or the guy trying to hock his off for stupid money. I have had perhaps a dozen or more in my hands to play, have seen HUNDREDS of them in other player's hands ( as a sound guy ) and one thing is clear for me. NONE of the ones I have ever played called to me either playing wise or sound-wise and none were of such good quality that it justified the price. Of the MANY that I have been around, only a few were truly well made with no factory flaws and the player is probably the biggest factor to their appeal. Some players just make them work. It is kinda odd if you ask me that perhaps the two most famous Les Pauls have an oddity about them. Jimmy Page's has a weird wiring thing that happened when Peter Greene had it and Bernie Marsden's guitar " The Beast " is known for being a bit snarly and rude sounding. Slash's sound is also a bit snarly and rude and could be perhaps his guitar?

Gibson has several design flaws and while being at one point a large step above what others were offering, they have probably since the 70's, not made a guitar that was actually worth their asking price. The standard of any model is not standard, no volute, electronics keep changing, and they keep trying odd things and they introduce weird technologies that just don't appeal or work. Then to boot, they are double the cost of the next vendor that is actually making something that is everything it should be. I would pay $10k or more for a new guitar if it was absolutely the best of everything it could be. Rick Toone makes astounding and truly otherworldly guitars that considering their cost and tech, are lightyears ahead of Gibson, but are not exactly that far different in cost for some of the signature models. Don't need to own a Gibson to know that for half the money, you can get something that is just as good, if not better.

My understanding is he had them track down an old Les Paul Custom he wanted, and traded this one in for it- and due to its provenance it’s probably being sold on commission.

Steve Miller recently gave a sizable collection to them to sell on commission
