You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

I'd pick Bonamassa's collection. My chops are good enough for me and I wouldn't wanna sound like anybody else.

Do i get his warehouse as well?

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Easy, Clapton & Bownie....... or the Beano LP........or the Blind Faith Tele..........

Oh crap

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

do the skills include other instruments and singing also
if so I believe Jack White's talents would allow me to gig steadily round here
whilst I took the those skills and applied them to some other genre
such as Jazz or Bluegrass

Jack would be a Bluegrass god if he chose to be

oh and which ever guitar he chose to part with
I'd just hang it on the wall and point at it
as My Other Guitar was Jack White's Airline or something

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Do the skills include enormous hands? It would be hell to have the skills but not the finger length to pull off stretches, wrap a rounds, etc.

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

I would take Paul Gilbert's skills. he can keep all of his guitars.

I dont see Jack White as being able to be a bluegrass god. In fact, I dont think he'd be good at all. What are you basing that opinion on? (Just curious, not trying to be an a**hole here.)

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Ok, I'm going to cheat a bit...

Skills and one guitar of:

1. Vivian Campbell, and a certain Charvel he played when I saw him on Dio's Sacred Heart tour in '85. The black one with gold hardware and gold shields on the body.

2. Tony MacAlpine, and his old BC Rich ST-2 with silver and gold diamond graphics.

3. Tony Iommi, and the "old boy"

4. Ritchie Blackmore, and the white Strat with RW board played from the early '80s (still played)

5. Jake E Lee, and his whitey Strat

Please, if I'm assigned one of the punishments for cheating let me choose the Karen Carpenter option, at least I'll have more than one sound and can play what I want!

Mark Knopfler or Nile Rogers skill...I'll keep my eye out for that bottle. :yourock:
The Knopfler signature guitar and Rogers' "Hitmaker" will be great additions to my guitar collection.

I watched some special about a tour he was doing up in Canada
he played several instruments well
including, if I remember correctly, a banjo
he said at some point he may have had a passing interest in bluegrass

he just seems to me to be bluegrass player who became a rock star by accident

kinda like Garth Brooks wanted to be a rock star but Country was he path
or how Johnny Depp's Music career became acting
etc

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

I'll take the money now option....which is A.

Sorry Slash....kiss your **** goodbye.

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Here's a hypothetical for you to ponder...

You find a bottle on the beach. You give it a rub, as we do, and a purple haze emanates from the bottle. A Genie, bearing a striking resemblance to Jimi Hendrix, appears and offers you two (2) choices, of which you may only choose one (1).

You have the choice to inherit your favourite guitar player's guitar collection. These guitars will be added to what you already have.

Or you can inherit his skills as a player, and just one of his guitars. These skills will be added to what you already have.

Which would you choose?

N.B. If you ask for both, you will be killed with death and assigned to a band in the afterlife with Karen Carpenter on drums and Kirk Hammet's wah sound as your only option.

Give serious answers, your first or considered response, or amuse us with your whimsy and shenanigans.

Can I just have a telecaster? I hope jimi hendrix played one of those at one time. The reason I'd choose jimi is because he (apparently) was able to imitate anyone, horn or guitar. So, I like the idea of being able to sound like miles davis, or stevie ray vaughn, or beethoven, or a combination of the three at any one time.

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

Can I take a bassist? If so, it'd be Michael Manring and his wacky hipshotted Zon bass. If I had to take a guitarist, there's a great many to choose from for sure. I do dig Tosin Abasi a lot. Seems ridiculous to go with him over so many other people, but he's a proven virtuoso with cleans and dirties on 6,7 and 8 strings. I don't really care what guitar though. I suppose his older Strandberg (?) That isn't that hideous Ibanez.

Well at the very least, I'm pretty sure Jimi could imitate Stevie Ray Vaughan.

If you pick Jimi's skill set and get one of his guitars, you could always sell it and buy a Telecaster.

This is a great choice, if only to see the look on the Jimi genie's face when you say, "Ok, hand over your skills, and one of your guitars!"

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

This is a great question.

Answer: Ace Frehley's guitars.

Comedy responses: Seriously? Even HE doesn't want his chops.

honestly, the real flaw with this is how do we KNOW who your fave player really is? I'm obvious. But some people may just be wishing for chops or axes. For example - is the Mick Mars fan out there really going to admit either?????

Re: You Find A Bottle On The Beach....

I want to answer both.

Jimmy Herring's skills. Because he's got all the skills. Insane player. I guess I'd take one of his PRS's, maybe the NF3.

Billy Gibbons has to have one of the best guitar collections. 50's and 60's fenders and gibsons, the rest I'd sell for some sweet acoustics and amps.

Guitar->pedals->amp
