Your all time favorite 2 humbucker combo

Not an easy question, but just curious what everyone's answer will be.

If you could just pick one combo that's your favorite, what would it be? And what makes them your favorite?

For me, it is the Alnico II Pro, and the Custom Custom. Great for 1-guitar bands, they cover a whole swath of frequencies.

Duncan Antiquity with the stock A2 magnets.

Or for a cleaner, more "acoustic like" tone from the neck pickup: A3 in the neck and the stock A2 in the bridge.

Ants with UOA5 in the Bridge and A3 in the neck...

That's a cool combo too.

Ultimately I decided any kind of A5 was a little too bright for me and for the audience, but I used that combo for quite a while and kind of miss having it.

antiquity humbuckers. love a3 neck and full strength a2 in the bridge in some guitars but stock they are great too. got one set stock in one guitar and one with the a3/a2 in another, both sound amazing

Another nice combo with Antiquitys is A2 in the neck and A4 in the bridge. If I'm going with new magnets I tend to prefer roughcast.

Hard one. Love Saturday Night Specials for a lot of things as also the JB/59 combo in the right guitar as wel as Pearly gates However if I absolutely had to choose just one combo it would be the Sentient and either a Hybrid or Alt 8 with a set of split switches. Can't choose between the Hybrid or alt without a lot of thought as have both combos and there is not much I cant cover with ether. Hybrid Sentient is better for cleaner tones but the Alt Sentient set up right is still very good clean but is SO good at high gain stuff!!
Sentient /Alt 8 combo in my KOA Carvin DC 127 with almost no effects.

I'll try to be succinct.

PATB-1n/1b
DD HB101's
CS El Diablo / SRB-1b (modded for neck position)
C5 / 59
Slash A II Pro set

I'll stop there. ;)

Tough call, it's like asking me what my favorite seasoning is. That being said:
RCA4Distortion n/Alternative 8 both in Triple Shots, with the neck pickup (Distortion) usually run in parallel.
A459n/RCUOA5JB, five way switch that can split either pickup.
A pair of Deathbuckers, two V one T.
Dimarzio De-Activator n/X2N one V, one T.

If I have to pick just one set, I'll go with Custom / Jazz. The Custom can be a bit hot for certain styles, while it can do some things that PAFs just can't. The Jazz has a great clean tone, and does a decent approximation of a '59 with the tone rolled off just a bit.

Custom Shop Pearly Gates set.

Second place would be the 59s I currently have in my other LP, but I just installed the bridge today so I’m in the honeymoon period with it. Last week it would have been the JB/59 set. I love that 59 neck for rock and higher gain sounds. So far I love the 59 bridge too. It has a more solid bass tonality than the Pearlies and so it works well as an all rounder set and for harder rock and heavier gain settings.

59/JB. I prefer to specialize my guitars, but if I had to choose 1 set I'd be good to go with the 59/JB. Both really suit me. I like how the 59 in the neck is fat and syrupy with that late attack. I like how the tone color is dark and 'gibsony' if that makes sense. What I use for jazz and would cover whatever rock/bluez I'd play also. The JB rulez for me. I like how it's hot, full, tone rich and rustic.

In a semi-hollow, either the Seth Lover or Antiquity set would be perfect for me.

Seth Neck with Seth Neck. Stock neck pickup, the heavier wound of the two. A5 or A4 in the bridge pickup, the lighter wound of the two.

That said, even without the magnet change in the bridge pickup, this setup is still my favorite I've encountered.

WLH is a sweet set, but when it comes to combos, Jazz in the neck with a WLH bridge is kinda cool, I also dig an Alnico II Pro neck with a CS78 bridge. Although, that combo still does not come close to touching the CS78 set.

These days, I love the WLH set and the CS78 set the most. Hands down. Great sets to work with for a wide variety of music, especially when making use of four conductor configurations.
