Your clean tone...

What does it sound like? What are your EQ settings? Do you use a lot of mids or treble? Is it warm or do you rather go with bright tone.. Everything about your cleans!

Re: Your clean tone...

Warm, slightly more mids than treble, with a touch of reverb and chorus.

Re: Your clean tone...

I usually use my Maxon OD-9 with the level all the way up and drive all the way down , the tone is usually maxed out . I run that pedal with my Maxon delay pedal into a clean tone on my Soldano Atomic 16 and back off my guitars volume knob for my clean tone. I`m on the neck pickup a lot when I play clean but every once in a while I`ll play clean on the bridge pickup.

Re: Your clean tone...

I use treb at 2 o'clock mid at 12 o'clock bass at 2 o'clock and I use a little bit of chorus.

Re: Your clean tone...

I play through a fender super reverb and I have got to the run my treb at 8, mids at 8, and the bass at 3 to 4. The bass on it is realy sensitive, you move it a little bit and it realy booms. I've gotten to where I like playing more clean with nice slappy, punching bass, smooth, but a little on the strong side, mids, and then blend in my treb. I have tried out alot of heads and combos and I find that most of them get to thin sounding when you distort them or you loose the tone you got to clean then you switch over and it looses me.

Re: Your clean tone...

on my current basswood guitar, the wood and neck is good, but i have a jb in the neck and Invader bridge, should i even try to describe my clean sounds... :argh: :arg:

Re: Your clean tone...

Warm with more mids than treble. I set it up so I can put some hair on my clean sound by adjusting my pick attack or volume on the guitar.

Oh, and I use no effects, clean or dirty. :burnout:

Only reason I use chorus is because my amp has on board effects that I can swtich on/off with my channel selecter pedal. I have no stomp boxes :(

I used to use chorus/reverb /delay quite a bit, but with another guitarist and an ambitious bass player, I was gettin glost in the mix. I punch through a whole lot better playing "dry". :burnout:

Re: Your clean tone...

I do the same as you Benjy no effects, either clean or distortion, and thats the way i like it.

Re: Your clean tone...

My Jazz Chorus 90 settings;

Bass: 4.5
Mids: 2.5
Treb: 7
Hi Treb: 6

It sounds a little hollow because of the lack of mids, but I love it :D

Re: Your clean tone...

For my clean tone, I usually use:
'79 hardtail Strat, set for the pos between the bridge and middle (is that Pos 2 or Pos 4???) ... Rivera Knucklehead stack, clean channel.

EQ is:
HI 6
MID 5
LO 4

Focus 10
Presence 5

Re: Your clean tone...

Bass: 5
Mids: 4
Treble: 6
Presence: 4
Gain stage: 7

Like to put a subtle chorus on top, coil split my JB, and select both both the JB and the 59 (middle position). :32:

Re: Your clean tone...

JC-120, fx channel

treb 7
mid 2
bass maxed

My bass is weird though even maxed it doesn't sound like it's enough. I'm thinking of a speaker change. The silver-cones ain't cutting it. Maybe some g12t-75s or V30s....

Re: Your clean tone...

Mine is sort of a hybrid between tweed and blackface fender tone. Not quite as spongy as a tweed amp, but with that great tweed midrange that magically sits right where you want it in the mix. General settings are treble 1-6, bass 2-4, reverb 2, volume 3-4, depending on guitar and room.

Re: Your clean tone...

hollow, tubular surfy kind of sound, from either the Jag or the Schecter (split). Not too much bass, enough treble it cuts, punchy mid.

just a tiny bit chorus...:) my line6 actually doesn't sound too bad clean...
dan

forgot to mention reverb... plenty of that
