I've been around a long long time. As a matter of fact I suggested this room to Evan Skopp as well as it's title decades ago. Now I am back begging for mercy my Brothers.

I am building a new home studio. I am finding that technology has progressed just a smidge since I I set up my home studio in the early 2000s. Previously I was running the first PowerMacs G5 towers and a Digi002 rack with the bundle package and life was easy. Plug it in, load the disks and off you go. Now, 20 years later I have a 16" Mac Book Pro (the big one), Pro Tools Ultimate, a Manley Core class A tube channel strip, a Focusrite 18i20 miuc pre, a Presonus Faderport 16 aqnd two additional 32" monitors and I am having hell getting it all to communicate.

If anyone can help me sort this all out I'd appriciate it. I love playing, writing and recording but troubleshooting new technology sucks!

Did I mention I am Evan Skopps friend? Cathy Duncan is a fan of mine as well.

Please help me, I need the clock on my VCR set as well.

I'd first check the compatibility list of your laptop with the I/O and ProTools.

You likely have to pick something to be the master clock, either ProTools or the Focusrite. I'd probably side with the Focusrite as the master clock, since that is converting analog to digital in and out of ProTools.

Assuming the signal flow is all in order, make sure the sample rates all match up to your ProTools session on any device that has a control for it. The amount of times people couldn’t get the studio to work because the pre was set to 44.1 at SAE was comically often.
