The Ibanez 808/TS9 is hugely popular . . . every where.

But who here likes/prefers a non 808/TS9 based overdrive ?

Any suggestions for a sub $150 OD that retains the low end . . . or actually increase the low end (in a good way) ?

A Klone I built with my daughter from a kit from a now-defunct Chinese website. Knocked all the TS-variants off my board. (And I'm including the SD-1, because I think it falls squarely in the TubeScreamer camp.)

while this is true, i dont love pauls tone. his chops are amazing though

True, sometimes it can be a bit grating. I have played the Mojo it sounds pretty good, esp for a sub $50 pedal. I like the Mojo over his JHS pedal

I have a chuggy bassy tone I have had much success maintaining my lowend with the MRX Distortion +

The Airis Savage drive qualifies for what you are looking for, but it's hard finding them at $150, usually 180ish

But there's on reverb right now for $130!

Keeler Push. Don't normally ever use a OD because most to me don't react like a real tube amp this one does. Use it on my Clean channel with my PRS MT 15 or Archon heads to get a light crunch. First OD that has been on one of my boards in 20 years!

Would like to re-try the Dist Plus.

I do have an MXR Dist III . . . would you know how different / similar they might be ?

I never played one. What I do know I tried to replace my original with a reissue and the vibe was not the same. The reissue was smoother and more compressed. I ended up getting a vintage 80s box on the secondary market.

I had a Guv'nor clone built by FrankTheAnvilFX for $60 and I still use it constantly, mainly as a solo boost.
It's the one on the right. Love that thing!
