What are some of your favorite non-sunburst, white, black or blonde Fender colors? If you've got pics, even better. :) Also mention if you like them with Maple or Rosewood boards.

Re: Your favorite 50's and 60's Fender "Custom" Colors?

my fav is Light yellow strats with rosewood boards... i owned a TEXMEX strat in that finnish that i loved the look of... but the guitar itself was weak so i sold it... i have always planned to replace it with a Warmoth build oneday... just another project i have that may need to wait until better times come around.... not that i'm doing bad at all.... just trying to conserve... fix what i have more often instead of new

Coppertone Metallic, rosewood board, black guard. Though, I'm not sure that was ever a production color.

Lack Placid Blue and Shoreline Gold. I prefer rosewood boards, although I think the Shoreline Gold models were maple, which is ok too.

Hmmm, well I'd have to go with the rare, especially for strats, Desert Sand with a maple board.

With Rosewood it's HARD to beat a yellowed clearcoat on Lake Placid Blue!

Seafoam/Surf Green is my fav but I also like Dakota Red, Sherwood Green and Lake Placid Blue/

i was gonna pick one, but i really like em all!

most colors look great aged/original with a RW neck

in a maple neck i like red black and a couple of the golds

Great page. Might as well list mine now...

Candy Apple Red is so classic, and apparently it was Leo's favorite color too.

Dakota Red is right behind.

Seafoam Green is killer, I love it with maple but always see it with rosewood.

Daphne Blue is great

I was going to say Sherwood Green and Burgundy Mist are the only two I really don't like, but Burgundy Mist is kind of cool too!

How would Blue Ice look with Rosewood on a total 60's inspired Strat, Duncan Surfers and all?

I know it isn't vintage-correct, but I'd love to have a Lake Placid Blue Strat with maple board and black/white/black guard.

Re: Your favorite 50's and 60's Fender "Custom" Colors?

Got to go with Shell Pink. Rarest of all the Fender colors and only in the late 50's/early 60's could such a color actually be considered "cool", on either a guitar OR a car.

Of course a pink guitar only works if its a beat to heck lol

Surf Green is a close second in my mind though and I'm really tempted to do my Jaguar bass

Re: Your favorite 50's and 60's Fender "Custom" Colors?

Sea foom green with rosewood, daphne blue w/ rosewood, amd candy apple red w/ maple.

Re: Your favorite 50's and 60's Fender "Custom" Colors?

I'm fascinated reading about all the old custom colors, and how sometimes they were shot over primer, sometimes over sunburst and sometimes over another botched custom like the Pink above.
